The compressor is driven by a 5MW motor. The test facility includes Sound proof Acoustics Enclosures with Motorized Doors, Air Intake & Exhaust silencers with Vertical stack, Lubrication & Cooling water system with associated pipelines, Instrument air system, Compressor Intake & Exhaust pipe with Exhaust plenum , Motor base fames, Complete Electrical & Instrumentation. A portion of the Front wall of size 22m Long X 10 m Height weighing 40T moves to and fro for a span of 35 mtrs to allow access for the cranes for handling of Compressors, Motor etc inside the test bed facility. The Test facility was designed to meet the noise criterion of 75 dBA and satisfactorily achieved.
A state of art test facility for testing air and process gas compressors in India. Project panning from concept to commissioning. A test facility equipped with all necessary systems and support systems required for running compressor packages for conducting tests in open loop and closed loop modes.

M/s Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) is the manufacturer of 2600 HP & 1350 HP Loco Engines. These engines are performance tested in a Test Bed, subjecting the engines up to full load conditions prior to assembling on locomotive. The project involved engineering, manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning. The scope of the project included complete civil work for engine foundation, construction of control room, fuel oil/Lube oil/ cooling water circuits, electrical work, control panel, MCC, cables, piping, water rheostat type load boxes, cooling tower, heat exchangers, sound proof enclosures for the test beds, test bed ventilation system, sound proofing the control room, air conditioning, engine exhaust silencers etc. on turnkey basis.
• massive RCC foundation for test pits and constructions of equipment & control rooms.• The test bed comprises of fuel oil, Lube oil, cooling tower systems, combustion air intake & engine exhaust systems required for testing of the engine. The sound proof acoustic enclosures provided for all the four test beds take care of noise generated while testing of the power packs. • Suitable forced ventilation systems comprising of air handling units with ventilation silencers takes away the heat built up at the time of tesing. Being test beds, engine will have to be loaded/unloaded everyday on the test bed. Hence loco engines exhaust ducting and fresh air intake ducting should not be a fixed installation. • The possible human bias is eliminated by total computerization of the testing by employing Data Acquisition system for logging, analysis, interpretation and performance report with the aid of specially programmed software. This system has pick-up transducers, internal diagnostic features, displays system for various parameters, cabling, and uninterrupted power supply.• Engine starting and excitation is carried out through the starting and excitation panel. Dynamic loading of the power packs is effected by water resistance type load boxes with controls at control room.Centralized power distribution system for running the utilities with cabling, earthing and remote push – button station controls at the control room are provided.
SUB SYSTEMS:
The power pack provided in the locomotive is supported by certain auxiliary facilities. However the test bed system is employed for testing the power pack alone, it requires supporting equipments for testing which are normally available in the locomotive.
Apart from these essential equipments, since the new engine test bed system employs computerized state of art for testing the power packs, the test bed system is required to be provided with suitable data acquisition and analysis system. The system also requires the equipment room in which all the equipments like heat exchangers, Lube oil coolers, Lube oil tank, centrifuges, DM plant and pumps are housed.
The following are the major sub-systems.
