TOWN OF ZIONSVILLECOLLECTION GUIDELINES
REFUSE GUIDELINESRay’s Trash Service will provide residential, solid waste collection one time per week within the Town of Zionsville. Pick up days for the Town of Zionsville will remain the same. Collection will occur between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. Please have all material to the curb by 7:00 a.m.
Acceptable garbage includes: ashes, garbage, rubbish, refuse, waste materials, cans, bottles, rags, paper, and other ordinary household waste that is generated through normal use, as well as incidental yard waste.
Unacceptable Refuse: large hedge and tree limbs, grass clippings, or shrub or brush removal.
6 bags limit.
Overage stickers (if you will exceed 6 bags), can be purchased at the Zionsville Town Hall for $1.00 per bag.
BULK ITEMS White Goods & Heavy Trash: such items would include, but not be limited to stoves, washers, dryers, furniture, and other items with weights or volumes greater than those allowed for by approved containers. This term shall also include items that previously contained refrigerants such as refrigerators, air conditioners, freezers, and dehu-midifiers, as long as the resident can provide the contractor with appropriate documentation showing that the CFC’s or HCFC’s have been properly removed by a licensed technician.
White goods and heavy trash pick up shall be arranged with at least a 48 hour notice by the homeowner with Ray’s Trash Service (800) 531-6752, (317) 539-2024, or at [email protected].
Ray’s Trash Service will NOT collect appliances unless the Freon is removed and the item is properly tagged.
Ray’s Trash Service will collect bulk items along with other garbage on the designated pick up day. Bulk items include items weighing more than 85 pounds, large furniture, and metal appliances (without chlorofluorocarbons – CFCs). Please do not place construction or demolition debris at the curb.
UNCOLLECTABLE WASTESHazardous Materials: Any waste designated as “hazardous” by the United States Environmental Protection Agency or appropriate state agency as the same is now in effect or may hereinafter be amended. This term shall also include any flammable/volatile liquids. No paint cans, or items containing Freon. HOLIDAY SCHEDULERay’s Trash Service does not provide service to Zionsville on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
In 2009, this schedule will affect pick up on Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Christmas Day. All Pick-up schedules with pick-up days falling on these holidays will be delayed by one day.
RECYCLING GUIDELINES Newspaper, advertisement sections, junk mail, office/computer paper, household plastics marked 1 through 7, bi-metal and aluminum food or beverage cans, clean cardboard or paperboard flattened, green, brown, and clear glass are all acceptable in the curbside program.
A green, 95-gallon cart with a yellow lid designated for recycling will be delivered to each household beginning March 23, and continuing throughout that week.
Recycling collection will be every other week on your trash collection day starting March 30, 2009.

WHEN DOES THE SERVICE BEGIN?Ray’s will begin servicing the Town of Zionsville Monday, March 30, 2009.
WHEN WILL THE NEW CARTS BE DELIVERED? The new, green, 95-gallon cart with a yellow lid designated for recycling will be delivered to each household beginning March 23, and continuing throughout that week.
WHAT DO WE DO WITH REPUBLIC’S RECYCLING CONTAINERS? We understand that the Town of Zionsville has worked with Republic to pick up the containers on your trash and recycling pick up day on the last week in March (March 23, 25, 27).
WILL THE TRASH AND THE RECYCLING BE PICKED UP ON THE SAME DAY? Yes, the trash and recycling will be collected on the same day however; the trash will be collected every week and the recycling will be collected every other week.
