Toolox in mechanical engineering
Toolox is a modern quenched and tempered prehard-ened tool and machine steel, delivered with measured and guaranteed mechanical properties. The basic idea is to save you time by delivering Toolox heat treated and ready to use.
Toolox is based on the low carbon metallurgical concept of Hardox and Weldox, the well known quenched and tempered abrasion resistant and structural steels from SSAB.
Toolox iS AvAilABle in Two GrAdeS
Toolox 33 with a tensile strength of ~980 MPa and Toolox 44 with a hardness of 45 HRC. Both grades are characterized by a low carbon content, which results in a very good workability.
Toolox possesses unique toughness and fatigue data, which increases the lifetime of the machine components signiicantly. Thanks to its high purity the surface rough-ness of the component is the critical aspect concerning fatigue properties. Toolox 44 has also high temperature properties. The strength and toughness hardlychange with elevated temperatures and long soaking time. Therefore Toolox is i.e. suitable as an abrasion resistant plate at higher working temperatures. (> 250˚C–<600˚C />480˚F–<1100˚F). Please contact us for details.
