The Temple of Tharnassis
Goal: To create the following four elements for a 3rd
person shooter with stationary cameras

Task 1: Creative Weapon
Acid Sprayer
Visiono A ranged weapon with a variety of tactics, combos, and helpful functionso Canister style backpack with hose attached to two handed, pump-action rifle
Mechanicso Damage
Hitting a target with a direct stream of acid will result in direct damage and minor splashdamage to targets within 1 meter of target
o Pressure (instead of reload) Firing uses pressure You can fire in a steady stream until your pressure gauge is empty Pressure can be regained by rapidly pressing the reload button
If this function turns out to be annoying, it can just be regained by not firingo Arched pathway
The acid is shot in an arched stream from the barrel which can be useful if your enemy is behinda low obstacle
o Puddles Shooting at the same location for a few seconds will result in acid puddles forming that can be
used in a variety of tactics.
o Low Ammo Spray When the weapon is low on ammo the acid spray will begin to spurt and sputter, decreasing
distance and accuracy but increasing AOE range
Similar to Super Soaker water gunso
Dissolves The acid may dissolve certain obstacles, such as crates or rusty locks. The Acid Strength
upgrades help it dissolve through tougher obstacles.
Upgradeso Flammable
The acid shot out of the gun becomes flammable and can ignite through a number of methods Targets hit directly with an acid stream are flammable for 3 seconds, splash targets are
flammable for 1.5 seconds
o Increased Pressure Increased pressure can allow for increased firing range as well as maintain longer streams
o Increased Acid Strength & Damageo Increased Acid Capacity
Special Tacticso Flammable
Once the Flammable upgrade has been received any number of sources can ignite your acid Torches/Candlesticks/Chandeliers Fire Magic, from either teammates or enemies Incendiary Grenades

o Puddles An acid puddle on the ground in front of you may deter all but the most persistent of melee
attackers
Arching puddles at foes behind a barrier can cause them to scatter from their defensive positionHint: Try mixing the flammable upgrade with puddle tactics for some devastating effects!

Task 2: Creative Game Mechanics
The Build & Summon Functions
Purposeo To provide a more complex, fun, and versatile method of attack and defense, primarily for
support classes
Functiono Your support character may not be as directly powerful as a tank or damage dealer, but by
summoning a big weapon or powerful ally you can be more effective in combat
Variationso Turrets Stationary Weapons (Repackable)
Mounted turrets A mounted turret must be built, then user must mount it, providing them with a
very powerful, but stationary weapon
Only one allowed At higher levels the turret may upgrade to a catapult or rocket launcher 5 Second Build Time, 2 Second Re-pack time
Automated turrets Less powerful than their mounted counterpart, automated turrets will
constantly fire at any visible enemies
Number allowed depends on skill level Can be used to draw fire away from self/team 1 Second Build Time, 1 Second Re-pack time
o Minions Moving weapons / pets Suicide bot
Detonates upon contact with an enemy Shoulder mounted mini-turret Guardian Angel
Follows, defends, and assists its creator Farie of Youth
Heals team over time Phoenix
Revives fallen character Ghoul stone
Resurrects fallen enemies to fight for your cause for 30 seconds Etc
o Traps Stationary traps triggered by enemy contact Bear traps, trap door spiders, Punji pits, etc
Requirementso Different archetypes will be able to build or summon different things based on their level and/orspecializations

Task 3: The Great EscapeAfter saving the Queen just before her execution, our hero (and up to three friends) must escape from the
evil Sorcerer Meldago in a fast paced chase sequence.
Introo Our hero is provided an exit from the building after the fight with Sorcerer Maldago
The Wagon RideUpon exit the hero(es) board a horse drawn wagon and flee. The wagon will be jolting around cornersand over bumps while enemies close in from all directions
o Encountered Enemies Enemy loaded wagons Flying demons Bat swarms Inter-dimensional knights
o Each archetypes specialties can come in handy Bombs are great for knights and wagons chasing you Turrets are great for air defense Flying units will crash to the ground if they are frozen in flight Shotguns/AOE spells can take out large swarms of bats

Scene #1 Arriving at the TempleCamera01, frame 1-360
Our hero(es) arrive at a temple exterior where they are given their task - Rescue the Queen.
o An in-game cut scene that establishes where the player is and why Location: A temple deep in the woods/jungle
o Sample monologue from friendly NPC (Blue cylinders)Weve tracked Meldago and the Queen here, to this temple. Watch yourself, Maldago
has grown powerful. The fate of this kingdom hangs on your success and the Queens
safe return. Good Luck
Scene #2 Meldagos IntroHere we meet Meldago, only to be attacked by minions and sealed off from him as he collapses
the doorway. The players get their first shot at fighting and must find an alternate route to
Meldago.
Camera01, frame 361-500
o Right away the player is introduced to our villain. We zolly in on the antagonists face as heangrily casts a spell to block us off.
Camera02, frame 500-850
o This camera shows the hero, the spawning minions, and the disaster which blocks off thedoorway
o Camera Shake during disastero A few easily killable enemies spawn from directly ahead, the right, and the left at a relatively
close distances
Camera03, frame 850-1030
o We follow the player as they get a treasure/upgrade and proceed downstairs Scene #3 The Temple
o Here the player gets to kill a variety of monsters and minions through a variety of tactics. Avariety of ranged, melee, flying, casters, turrets, and bosses are encountered
Camera04, frame 1040-1990
o Initially the player goes down the steps and can crush their enemies with a well placedexplosive shot to the arch overhead
o The camera then transitions to show the room ahead for a medium distance fight against a fewranged and flying enemies
o After the first batch of enemies, the camera transitions again to show a few remaining enemiesand a treasure chest /upgrade
Camera05, frame 1990-2344
o The next room is a close ranged fight but with plenty of barrierso These barriers are filled with a flammable liquid, its useful for more than just lighting up theroom!o The large enemy statue comes to life and summons various minions
Camera06, frame 2344-2695
o A very large, and moderately long distance, firefight takes place in this roomo The red cones are enemy turretso Watch out for bat swarms
Scene #4 Interrupting Meldagoo After fighting through the temple, they reach Meldago in the main chamber and must fight him
for the Queen

o Camera08 is your primary camera for the initial fight where you battle several various creatureso This camera rotates slightly, based on players location
Camera07, frame 2750-2800
o Camera07 is your primary camera for the giant statue boss fighto Maldago uses magic to possess the giant statue along the back wallo As the large statue gets lower on health, he will bring the smaller statues to life and will
summon various minions to fight for him
o There are several way to win/escape Find a way to ignite the explosive crates on the far wall, creating an opening Have the boss statue destroy enough pillars that part of the temple collapses on him,
creating an opening to escape
Cause enough damage that the statue explodes, revealing an exito Camera rotates slightly, based on players location
Scene #5 The Great EscapeCamera09, frame 2900-4400
The crew mounts a horse drawn wagon and are taken for a bumpy ride as they fight off the evil
hordes in an escape attempt
o A variety of threats are encountered, including bat swarms, flying demons, other wagons, anddark knights
o At the end of the chase, the camera turns ahead, focusing on the bridge that is knocked out. Wilour heroes survive?! Hire me to find out!
