WELCOMING AND BEGINNING

JOHN TURNER greeted Rotarians and guests in

the absence of slated official greeter SEAN

PATTON. Recently returned ZAC DRESSNER

led the pledge and the ever-versatile BOB

SMITH offered the invocation. At the start of

the meeting, we had one visiting Rotarian, Jona-

than Usdin from Pen-Web. At the end of the

meeting, there were two visiting Rotarians, plus

one more Penfield Rotarian, than when the

meeting was called to order by President

CHARLIE BELLOMO. (If you were not present

for the meeting, you should still be able to figure

that out).

GUESTS

Non-Rotarian visitors were from The Penfield

Racquet Club: Keith LoPresto, Todd Shaw and

Jeremiah King.

SUNSHINE REPORT

While there was no Sunshine Report, BOB

SMITH noted that BOB GENTLE is en route

from Fla. to NY and should be back any day

now.

ANNOUNCEMENTS, ETC.

President CHARLIE said that there were no an-

nouncements on his part, and called for mem-

bers to make theirs:

DON MILTON and LINDA KOHL:

Don

They sang very high praises for RocCity Un-

corked, which was held at the Convention Cen-

ter April 8th. The venue was great, plenty of

space and lauded by vendors and guests alike.

Others who attended, like DAVE STURTZ,

nodded in agreement.

During this period, NELS CARMAN collected

Nels and Michele

for the monthly 2-2-2, and BILL PETHICK re-

minded us that there are many Penfield Rotary

Partner decals available to recognize Club sup-

porters who have donated to the success of the

recent Euchre Tournament. Pick them up at any

3

meeting, (see Bill), and offer them to donors to

display in their places of business.

BOB SMITH noted that a meeting of the Golf

Committee was held last night to identify ave-

nues to success for this year. More ideas, such

as the one offered by LINDA KOHL to amp up

the dinner revenues, are welcome. A portion of

a regular meeting (or a whole meeting, if possi-

ble) is sought soon to launch this Club-wide ef-

fort.

MARY ANN MADY asked that any outstand-

ing bills or money from the Euchre Tourney be

given to CHRIS KAUSCH as soon as possible

so that the books can be closed on that event.

Also, if you have something to give to the Trea-

sure Box project, now is the time to get it to her

so that she can assemble them.

JOHN CARLEVATTI advised that the evening

meeting April 27th, (that must be the 26th) will

John

present the opportunity for the presentation of

the School District’s budget for next year. He

encouraged us to invite guests and mentioned

that the Penfield Business Association members

are asked to attend as well.

Pres. CHARLIE has reserved the Dolomite

Lodge for a July picnic and will also reserve a

December date there for our Christmas Party.

THE INDUCTIONS

Charlie, Michele and Bob

Our newest member, MICHELE STOKES, was

inducted with the participation of several of the

Board members. Looking on approvingly was

BOB SMITH who proposed MICHELE for

membership. (Her father, Gil, is a past president

of Penfield Rotary). Welcome MICHELE!

Vince Palumbos from the Pen-Web Club was

inducted into Rotary with the participation of

one of their charter members, Jonathan Usdin,

as part of the induction ceremony.

HAPPY DOLLAR$

As there was no time for Happy Dollar$, Pres.

CHARLIE asked all to save for next week what

they would have put in to jam the potty full of $.

PROGRAM

Mike Whittemore is a veteran radio man who

Mike Whittemore and Pres. Charlie

4

is now both Senior Account Executive with

WHAM and host of the Saturday morning show,

“Home Repair Clinic”. His PowerPoint presen-

tation focused on the strengths of radio as con-

trasted with other media in presenting messages

to listeners. Radio is a connection to the past,

but also ties into more recent forms of commu-

nication, such as the social networks of the in-

ternet.

50/50 RAFFLE

JOHN TURNER held the winning ticket for the

raffle and pocketed a Hamilton ($10), while

leaving the $250 big pot intact.
