GARDENINGGEARTo be a true gardener, you'll need a few key items in your wardrobe:
O V E R A L L S
There's a reason traditional Carhartt overalls (available at Mark's) have stayed in style for so long. With room for knee pads for extra cushioning and multiple utility pockets, overalls are essential.
F O O T W E A R
You'll want to wear shoes that are comfortable and functional. A great option are Mark's WindRiver rain boots which come in a shorter profile and are antimicrobial to keep your feet fresh. Not to mention, they're easy to hose off after a day in the dirt.
S U N H AT
You'll likely be spending quite a bit of time outside so it's best to protect yourself with a wide brimmed hat in addition to wearing sunscreen. THN

March has been a busy and exciting month at Streetsville Secondary School. The day before March Break, Streets-ville Secondary School had our annual Cops for Cancer Hockey Game, held at the Vic Johnson Arena. When the game started, there was standing room only - as staff, stu-dents, police officers and community members packed the stands. Streetsville scored first and held the police at bay until the third period, when Peel’s finest found their groove. They scored 5 unanswered goals and their goalie did an out-standing job of fending off the Tigers, despite many excel-lent scoring opportunities by the Streetsville squad. In the end, players and fans had a great time, and the event was extremely successful, with $2000 raised to support cancer research. We look forward to next year’s event and thank the Tiger Leadership Council and Peel Police for organizing.
In March, we also had Mental Health Wellness Week. Our student and staff planning team raised awareness about mental health and had a number of activities that promot-ed positive mental health. There were Zumba and yoga classes, relaxing adult colouring in the library, mental health awareness games in the cafeteria, and, every day at lunch, St. John Ambulance volunteers brought in therapy dogs for staff and students to enjoy. The week culminat-ed in a presentation by Tammy Whelan from the Canadian Mental Health Association.
For our parent community, the School Council held the first of a two-part parent information night entitled “Internet Safety, What Parents Need to Know”. The presenter was so-cial media behaviour expert Steve Chapelle. Parents found the night very informative and are looking forward to the second event, which takes place on Thursday, May 12th at 7pm. All are welcome to attend and there is no cost; how-ever, we do ask that children under the age of 16 be left at home, due to the sensitive nature of the material.
Streetsville was also proud to host Gagan Sikand, newly elected Member of Parliament for Mississauga- Streets-ville. Presenting to several classes, he shared his experi-ences, the road he took that led him to politics, and what it is like to work under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Mr. Sikand answered many question from students and staff.

When Margaret Atwood was studying at Harvard, she had a dream about Susanna Moodie, a Canadian writer that focused on her struggles as an early settler. After Atwood’s dream, she started writing poems based on Moodie’s stories. ‘The Journals of Susanna Moodie’ is a book of poetry by Margaret Atwood, first published in 1970. In the book, Atwood adopts the voice of Susanna Moodie and conveys Moodie’s feelings about life in rural Canada in the 19th century.
Charles Pachter began illustrating the poems in 1968, when Atwood sent him a first manuscript of her book. The book was later republished in 1997 with a series of illustrations by Charles Pachter.
