Texarkana Independent SchoolDistrict honors the district’sgraduatingseniorswhohaveachievedsuperior academic performancethrough the Cum Laude System.Underthissystem,studentsearningahighgradepointaveragecanplaceinoneofthreecategoriesatgraduation:Summa Cum Laude, Magna CumLaude and Cum Laude. Students,in effect, are competing against apre-established academic standard ofexcellence rather than against theirpeers.WiththeCumLaudeSystem,the District is able to recognize alldeserving students for academicexcellenceupongraduation. Texas High School recognizes asHonor Graduates those studentswith weighted grade point averagesat or above specific benchmarks.The weighted grade point systemappliesaweightedfactortothegradeearned by the student in the class.Higher weighting factors are appliedto advance placement courses, dualcredit courses and pre-advancedplacement courses.
