The workshop begins with teachers freely exploring a wide variety of Dr. Seuss literature to bring into the

To explore the importance of making observations teachers headed outside to make observations of the school yard,

collect specimens, and record their observations.http://www.drdianateachertraining.com

Teachers returned to the classroom and had time to study and draw their specimens. We discussed the importance of using our senses in making observations, patterns in nature, and plant and

Teachers returned to the classroom and had time to study and draw their specimens. We discussed the importance of using our senses to make observations, patterns in nature,

plant and animal kingdom concepts were discussed.

After teachers completed their individual observations. Teachers were asked to roam around the room to observe what their peers

Teachers explored the characteristics of insects, including observing live Lady bugs.

Teachers explored light and sound concepts using kaleidoscopes, mirrors, colored paddles, and sound making

Teachers explored weather and climate concepts. Teacher above observes how animal fat acts as an

Teachers studied the concept of camouflage within the animal kingdom.

Here teachers are wearing synthetic animal fur prints, and studying animal models to further investigate camouflage.

Teachers explored the concept of adaptation by observing and comparing bird beaks, and using simple household

Teachers conducted numerous investigations to explore the characteristics of animal eggs.

Teachers learned how to make dinosaur fossil molds using simple materials, as well as setting up fossil sifting
