There are currently 91 children on roll grouped into four classes. We also have a thriving Nursery School
where children can join from two years old. Butleigh School provides ‘wrap around care’ during term
time, with our breakfast and after school clubs. The nursery children visit the school weekly.
We have a wonderful playing field, and play areas for both Key Stages 1 & 2, a school garden and
wildlife area.
We offer a range of enrichment opportunities and after school clubs at different times of the school
year including choir, cookery, netball, multi skills, football, fencing, cricket, basic first aid, guitar and
recorder classes. All our children have swimming lessons every week.
Location:
Butleigh is a thriving village community set in beautiful countryside on the edge of the Somerset levels.
In addition to the school and St Leonard’s church, we have a useful shop with post office and a pub
with a restaurant. Our outdoor facilities include playing fields with a modern pavilion, a children’s play
area and a beautiful cricket ground. The village supports several cricket teams and a rugby team.
Butleigh is approximately 3 miles from the historic town of Glastonbury. Street is a similar distance
away, where there are indoor and outdoor swimming pools, sports facilities, a theatre and many
shopping outlets in the Clarks Village. The Cathedral city of Wells is a 20 min drive away and the cities
of Bath and Bristol and the county town of Taunton are within 25 miles. The lovely beaches of the

Jurassic coast, around Weymouth and Lyme Regis, and the Bristol Channel to the north are all about an
hour’s drive from Butleigh.

This is a non-class based position
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic resilient practitioner to take on the role of SENCO within a
job share situation; ideally be a qualified SENCO or working towards the accreditation. This post would
suit someone with SENCO experience or experience of working with pupils with SEND. Particular
