Sustainability tip of the
week
To use less paper, make sure you use both sides. Draw pictures or write stories on the blank sides of paper.
PRINCIPAL’S PIECE TWO MORE SLEEPS!!! Each class has prepared their stall for Friday– we had a great report from each class at assembly on Monday. Thanks to the parents for their support and donations. See the list of stalls later in the newsletter. Essential items and Excursion/Incursion costs have been set for 2017 School Council has approved the contributions that parents will be asked to pay for their child(ren) in 2017. The essential educational items total $150 and the excursion/incursion/swimming costs total $185 per child for the year. I encourage families to discuss a payment plan with me if this will help. Payments can start in 2016 if you wish. More detail will follow with arrangements for your child to collect some of their essential items late in January. Remembrance Day At 11am on 11th November, we will remember our fallen soldiers and all those who have fought for our country. Our school will lay a wreath at the memorial park in Tatura. I would like our students to contribute to the occasion by bringing a flower from their garden to add to the wreath. Please send your child with a bloom on Thursday 10th November. Encourage them to choose something colourful or some green foliage. We discourage picking from neighbour’s or the school’s garden! Pupil Free Days Our Pupil Free Days this term are on Wednesday 9th November and Monday 21st November. If you require care for your children on these days, contact After The Bell for details on 9758 6744.
MONEY FOR FETE Many of the stalls at the fete will require small change from 50cents upwards. Please try and bring 50cent coins, gold coins and smaller denomination notes where possible! Tabloid Sports Last Friday everyone enjoyed the tabloid sports. Students had fun taking part in a variety of activities. We wish to thank the students from Mooroopna Secondary College who were there all day to help run each activity.

2017 LARP2017 LARP2017 LARP
(LEISURE AND RECREATION PROGRAM) We propose to run our Leisure and Recreation Program (LARP) for Grades 3-6 during November/December. As always we will need lots of Parents to assist with the various activities such as tennis, badminton, table tennis, cooking, fishing/yabbying, board games/computer, bocce, lawn bowls, scrapbooking, basketball, golf and athletics. Due to the State Governments initiative all volunteers must have a Working with Children police check. These are free and forms are availa-ble online. As in the past, this program can only run with substantial assistance from parents. To date we
have too few helpers and will be unable to continue the program unless we have some more vol-
unteers. If you can assist with this program, which will run on 3 Fridays being 25th November, 2
nd
& 9th December, between 2.00pm-3.30pm, (we will have an altered lunch time on these days),
please fill in the form below and return to me in Room 18.
Thank you Doug Miller LARP Coordinator

MARVELLOUS MATHS
We have been learning all about subtraction this term! We have been
doing equations horizontally, vertically AND worded problems! We are
becoming very good at our ‘borrowing’ as well!
LITERACY
Our theme is the very interesting Solar System! We have been
writing informative explanations about the Sun, the Moon and comets such as Halley’s Comet.
We have also spent the last week writing some exciting
recounts about our 3/4 camp!
CLASS TALKS This term our class talks are our only homework. ALL students
should now be well under way in their research of their chosen topic
about the Solar System! We expect students to be
practising their talks at home to an audience during week 6 (Nov
7th) so that they are ready to present in week 7 (Nov 14th). We are very excited to hear
about all the interesting topics that students have chosen!
