• Some Simple Facts…
– Foul language appears in many different areas of our lives. (Work, school, public)
– The multitude of those who use curse words, use them as their regular vocabulary
– Most of these people are ignorant of or are blatantly disregarding God’s words about our speech.

Does It Really Matter What I Say?
• Your speech determines whether you are evil or good. Matthew 12:34-35
• We will give account of every word that we speak. Matthew 12:36-37

Does It Really Matter What I Say?
• Christians are to put away profane language. Ephesians 4:29; 1 Peter 2:1
• It is the ungodly that use such inappropriate talk. Psalm 10:4, 7

Does It Really Matter What I Say?
• The same mouth should not speak blessing and cursing.
James 3:8-12; Colossians 4:6
• Jokes or foolish talking that is filthy must be avoided by saints. Ephesians 5:3-4

How Can I Solve This Issue?
• We need to know when to close our mouth in avoiding sins of the tongue. Psalm 39:1
• Remember that you are seeking things above. Colossians 3:1-11

How Can I Solve This Issue?
• We need to purify our hearts and be willing to put away the perverse lips. Proverbs 4:23-24
• We can control the heart by meditating on pure things. Philippians 4:8-9

How Can I Solve This Issue?
• Our goals and personal decisions must place spiritual endeavors first.

• May we pray and work that our lives be free of all offenses.

Application:
• While our mouths can be used to glorify God and edify others, it is obvious that by our words we can be condemned.
• Let us determine to bless others and give thanks and praise to God all the days of our lives.
• You can call on the Lord today.– Are you sure that you have washed away
your sins? Acts 22:16
