BeginningJanuary2021

Supervision is a requirement for counsellors, psychotherapists as well ascoachesandmanyothersinthehelpingprofessions.

In psychological work we consider change to be best supported byrelationshipsinwhichdifficultiescanbeexplored, challengesmadeandgoodpracticeconfirmed.

Whether working clinically or in a coaching setting with clients, it is notunusualforpractitionerstoexperiencerelationalandpracticedifficulties.Thistranslates into the need for a supervisor who can offer new models and afreshperspectiveorinsightaswellassupportingcompetentpractice.

OurApproach

Our approach to supervision practice is deeply relational. This meansrecognising that relatedness to others is an existential given and a coreorganisingprinciplethatshapeswhoweareandwhatwedo.Inarelationalparadigmoursenseofselfemergesthroughbeinginrelationshipwithothers-both at the level of our relationshipswith other individuals, and also in thewidercontext.

Onthiscoursewewillconsiderhowtheselfoftheclient,thetherapist/coachandthesupervisor,therelationshipbetweenthem,theirspecificcontexts,andthe wider field in which they all engage are continuously influencing thesupervisory process. We will explore these dynamics drawing on ourpublishedprocessmodelof supervision, supportedby a rangeof theoreticalmodelsandexperientiallearning.
