Home Minister Rajnath Singhcelebrated Dussehra with thetroops deployed along the India-China border at Rimkhim forwardpost, Joshimath, and Auli inChamoli district today, on thethird day of his four-day visit toUttarakhand.
Accompanied by ChiefMinister Trivendra Singh Rawat,the Home Minister interacted withmembers of the 1st battalion ofthe Indo-Tibetan Border Police(ITBP) deployed in Rimkhim nearBarahoti which has been witnessto alleged transgressions by thePeople's Liberation Army ofChina in the past.
The Home Minister said hehad long been wishing to meetthe soldiers on the occasion ofDussehra as they did not usuallyget the opportunity to celebrate
their festivals at home.Showering praise on the ITBP
soldiers for performing their dutiesbravely despite harsh weather con-ditions in high altitudes, he said
they were playing a multi-dimen-sional role in the country's securityby not only securing its boundariesbut also dealing with threats to itsinternal security and evacuatingpeople to safety at the time of natu-ral disasters.(PTI)
