PRAYER FOR THE YEAR OF CONSECRATED LIFEO God, throughout the ages you have called women and men to pursue lives of perfect charity through the evangelical counsels of poverty, chasitiy, and obedience. During this Year of Consecrated Life, we give you thanks for these courageous witnesses of Faith and models of inspiration. Their pursuit of holy lives teaches us to make a more perfect offering of ourselves to you. Continue to enrich your Church by calling forth sons and daughters who, having found the pearl of great price, treasure the Kingdom of Heaven above all things. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.

From the Pastor “My heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.” Romans 10:1

Mes chers amis, Traditionally, on this Second Sunday of Lent, toward the beginning of this annual solemn season of penance, which is expressed through prayer fasting and almsgiving, the Church gives us this Gospel of the Transfiguration to ponder. Our Lord takes Peter, James and John up Mount Tabor and is made radiant in glory before them. Unless we think this great mystery was for them alone, St. Paul makes it very clear in the Second Reading that this mystery was for us as well. Listen again to what he says: “Brothers and sisters: If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son but handed Him over for us all, how will He not also give us everything else along with Him? Who will bring a charge against God’s chosen ones? It is God who acquits us, who will condemn? Christ Jesus it is who died—or, rather, was raised— who also is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us” (Rom 8:31B-34). St. Paul clearly reminds us about the whole point of this Holy Season of Lent: it is to refocus our lives on what is most important and open our minds and hearts wider to what God our Father offers us in His Son. Our citizenship as children of God is in Heaven. And we believe that Christ will come again in glory. This is when our bodies - worn out by the trials of this earth - will be changed to share in His eternal glory. The Transfiguration of the Lord teaches us more fully about ourselves and our calling. The Holy Eucharist, when we receive it properly is the way to sharing in Christ’s Transfiguration. Unlike ordinary bread, we convert into who we are by consuming it, the spiritual food of the Eucharist transforms us more and more into what He is. Perhaps we can imagine for a moment after a good Holy Communion our hearts momentarily transfigured by God’s eternal glory, making our hearts like His.I want to invite you to our Lenten Mission this coming Monday-Wednesday at 6:00pm. How great it will be to come together during this holy season as the Body of Christ to hear and ponder the Word of God! We thank Deacon Randy Hyde for his generous “yes” to come and preach our mission. We will truly blessed by his words! Come…and bring a friend!May Our Lady continue to help us all to have a blessed and fruitful Lent! Dans le Sacré Cœur du Christ, Fr. Vidrine
