Allied Health Camp 5/27 - 6/2 | 6/3 - 6/16
For youth interested in health-related careers including Behavioral Health, Public Health, and Nursing; get hands-on training to earn First Responder, First-Aid, and CPR certificates. Students will also take part in team, individual and strength challenges to promote a healthy lifestyle!
I-CAMP (day camp) 6/4 - 6/8Students will create one or two short films as they practice filming, editing, and acting. They will show off their films to the community on the evening of the last day.
Environmental Health in the Changing Arctic (Entering 10th - 12th Grade) c 7/8 - 7/14
Maintaining a healthy environment is central to increasing quality of life and years of healthy life. Globally, 23% of all deaths and 26% of deaths among children under age five are due to preventable environmental factors. Learn how to save lives and the environment this summer!
Iñupiaq Land Values & Resources Camp - S 7/25 - 8/03 (Nuiqsut)
Examine the complex relationships there are between humans and the environment we live in, specifically the land, ocean, and natural resources of the Arctic. Also, gain insight on subsistence hunting, wildlife patterns, historical features and more! *AGES 18 AND UP
BRIDGE Program ( Entering 10th - 12th) s 6/3 - 6/16
This two-week college-readiness intensive will jump start high school students on to the path for success. Students will learn the ins, and outs of the admission process, become familiar with what’s expected during the direct year. They will also brush up on their math, science, and language arts skills. All while earning 3 college credits! This is an opportunity not to be missed!
Type M Teacher Boot Camp s DATES TO BE DETERMINED
This camp is a 2-week camp, with 2 distinct parts. Week 1 is a teacher training week, focused on training Type M teachers. Week 2, the teachers from week 1 become camp counselors for week 2 and run a High School camp.
Future Teacher of The Arctic Camp 7/8 - 7/14 Explore the educational field and build a foundation in Iñupiaq Studies, while learning first-hand what it is like to be a teacher on the North Slope! (This summer camp is for students entering 9th grade / Incoming College Freshmen)
Engineering camp (day camp) s 6/11 - 6/15Create working models of everyday machines and use these models to complete challenges.
Aviation Camp (day camp) s 6/18 - 6/22Ever wanted to be a pilot? discover the joy of flight through real flight simulations.
INU 118: Topics in Iñupiaq Studies, Traditional Plants and Medicine 7/8 - 7/14 (Entering 11th - Adult) Exploration of various Iñupiaq Studies topics. Some topics include, but are not limited to: crimping dried seal skin to make maklak soles, sewing mukluks to the soles, beading, learning how to make qupak’s, how to take the tendons from caribou legs, learning how to construct various frames such as a qayaq, umiaq, or uniaq, demonstrate how the skins for the cover of the qayaq or umiaq are sewn.
Exploration of Satellites and Weather c 7/15 - 7/21
Students will gain experience on how satellites are built, controlled, and use the observations to monitor weather hazards. Activities include assembly of water rockets and rocket launch; tracking satellites; and assembly and mounting of a weather station.
