or become lobbyist or press members.
Youth & Government builds young
leaders through hands-on experience
and teaching the YMCA's core values
of Honesty, Caring, Respect, and
Responsibility. Join us as we build
tomorrow’s leaders one young person
at a time. This program is currently

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA
Ongoing dialogue with cancer
survivors through surveys and
research led to the discovery that a
top concern among survivors was the
difficulty of returning to physical
activity after treatment. In response,
LIVESTRONG partnered with the YMCA
of the USA in 2007 to create
LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, a 12-week
physical activity program designed to
get survivors back on their feet.
Survivors participate in free
customized exercise regimens catered
to their individual needs from certified
fitness instructors. The instructors
are trained in cancer survivorship,
post-rehabilitation exercise and
supportive cancer care. You’ll focus
on:
Building muscle mass and
strength
Increasing flexibility and
endurance
Improving confidence and self-
esteem

Ashtabula County YMCA Community Outreach Program At the Y, strengthening community is our cause. Our mission doesn’t live in a building. It’s far too big and too
important to be confined to just one place. We have been working with our neighbors throughout Ashtabula County
to make sure that we’re out there, in the community, helping nurture youth development, improve healthy living and
support social responsibility.

Youth Development
We’re old enough to know that success starts young. That’s why we’re
advocates for helping children through all phases of their development.
Our child care programs teach children essential social skills and values,
giving them the foundations they’ll need to flourish. Youth swim lessons
build confidence and save lives, while youth sports teach fundamentals and
instill in children the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle. Leadership
and social development programs focusing on issues surrounding our boys
and girls help older kids develop their talents, give back to the community,
and become healthy, engaged adults.

Social Responsibility
The Ashtabula County YMCA
wants to be both a catalyst for
healthy change, as well as a
resource for those who need our
assistance. We can provide tools
and services to help address a
variety of critical social issues:
Child welfare, employment,
housing, education and substance
abuse. We work to make sure
every child, family and community
has what they need to achieve
their best.

Global Services
At the Y, building a strong community
begins at home. Ys in the U.S. help
young people develop cultural
competencies, they allow diverse
populations to connect to the
community, and they assist individuals
around the world gain access to life-
changing resources and support. As
an interconnected global network, the
Y has resources and solutions to build
bridges and make our changing
communities stronger—both at home
and abroad.
World Service Campaign
YMCAs in more than 120 countries
work every day—often in challenging
social, economic and political
environments—to give people the
tools and resources to create a better
future for themselves and their
families. Each year, YMCA of the USA's
World Service Campaign raises and
distributes funds to help Ys become
stronger and better able to respond to
the critical social issues that are
keeping people from reaching their full
potential.
The Greater Cleveland Food Bank at
The Y
A Benefits Outreach Counselor from
the Greater Cleveland Food Bank will
be at the YMCA periodically to provide
information to our community on
benefits that are available through the
Ohio Benefit Bank.
Annual Support Campaign
We never turn anyone away due to an
inability to pay because at the Y we
are for people, not profit. 100% of
your contribution to this campaign not
only stays in Ashtabula County, but
goes directly to help one of our
neighbors in need. See the front desk
or go to ashtabulaymca.org/give to
make your contribution and become a
part of the Y’s efforts to provide
youth development, healthy living, and
social responsibility for all.
Legacy Club
These supporters have remembered
the Ashtabula County YMCA in their
will and have left behind financial
support to sustain the legacy of the Y
and their own legacy by ensuring their
name will remain as a reminder of our
past and direction for our future. All
contributions are added to our
endowment.
Mobile Y
The YMCA wants to see families spend
more time experiencing the simple joy
of outdoor play during the summer.
So, we are packing up and bringing
several activities to local area housing
developments and city parks. We will
have fun fitness programs, selective
recreational sports and healthy living
options, right in your community
neighborhood. Check our Facebook
page or call the Y for dates and times.
Come out and play with the YMCA!
Volunteerism & Giving
The generosity of others is at the core
of our existence. It is only through the
support of our volunteer and public
and private donors that we are able to
give back to the community we serve.
Volunteer Opportunities
With a focus on youth development,
healthy living and social responsibility,
Y volunteers give men, women, and
children of all ages and from all walks
of life the resources and support the
need to be healthy, confident,
connected and secure. See our front
desk or visit our website for more
information on opportunities to
volunteer.
Togetherhood®
Togetherhood®, the Y’s Signature
Program for Social Responsibility,
empowers members to plan and lead
volunteer service projects that
address the needs of their
communities. Working side by side
with neighbors and community
partners, Togetherhood® volunteers
make new friends, improve lives and
contribute to a stronger and more
inclusive society.

to visit any participating Y in the
United States through membership at
your “home” YMCA. Valid for active,
full facility YMCA members. On a
monthly basis, nationwide member
visitors must use their home Y at least
50% of the time. Make sure the Y
offers the services and amenities you
plan to use. Bring a photo ID with you
for your visit. Contact the Y you want
to visit and ask if Nationwide
Membership is honored. Nearly 2,600
Y locations participate!
Financial Assistance

We only charge what is necessary for
the extensive services we offer to our
community. This said, the Y is for
everyone, regardless of age, income,
or background. If our membership
rates are keeping you from joining
the Y, please see our front desk or
call about financial assistance. It will
be our pleasure to help.

policy based on accepted ideals,
values, and behaviors. One’s conduct

unacceptable manner in the YMCA or

hold a spot in any class. There are no
refunds for any class or program. In
the event that the Y must cancel a
class or program, we reserve the right
to offer a make-up class or a system
credit that can be used for future
classes or programs.

Please do not bring valuable items to
the Y. If you choose to do so, please

items in a locker. The Y is not
responsible for lost or stolen items.
