Brainchild o noted journalist and visionary Shri S.P. Baranwal, SP Guide Publications was established in 1964. Daring to
tread the path that very ew can even dream o venturing on, it was his oresight which a year later ructifed into the
Military Yearbook, later renamed SPs Military Yearbook.
SP Guide Publications now presents SPs Military Yearbook 2009. In keeping with its commitment to bridge the gap
between the armed orces and the deence industry, the treatise incorporates in-depth analysis o the needs and
aspirations o the armed orces as well as the capabilities and potential o deence manuacturers. Its distinguished
panel o editors comprises current and ormer elite personnel o the Indian armed orces as well as oreign contributorsrom across the globe.
An exhaustive reerence manual or the armed orces o all the Asian countries, the SPs Military Yearbookpresents
the most eective platorm to reach leaders and decision-makers in the armed orces, deence industry and the
Government. With its rich content and holistic insights garnered rom the opinions and perspectives o experts in the
feld, it is acknowledged as a veritable treasure-trove o accurate, relevant and indispensable inormation.
A weapon that oers not just the penetration but respectability, too, generating a sense o pride within the
manuacturers, says the Editor-in-Chie, Jayant Baranwal, emphasising on its wide reach that allows deence
manuacturers around the globe to advertise their product and attract potential buyers.
My greetings and best wishes or SPs Military Yearbook.Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, ormer President o India

These excerpts taken from four speeches of the Indian President Dr AP J AbdulKalam revealthe thoughts of an enlightened mind.
In the speech at a banquet in honour of the USPresident George Bush, Dr Kalam highlighted the need for India and the USto
worktowards achieving advances in energydevelopment and independence to achieve further economicgrowth in the two leading
world democracies and other countries as well. In his address on TechnologyDay on May11, 2006, Dr Kalam, the Supreme
Commander of the Indian Armed Forces, explained how development of a state-of-the-art supersoniccruise missile BrahMos
was made possible in less than five years due to intensive technologicalco-operation and strength of the Joint Venture partners,
India and Russia. The two other addresses are equallyinspiring. In one, the President shares his vision on e-Governance; and in
the other, he stresses the need for HRD to achieve progress in Nanoscience and technologyresearch. The excerpts are being pub-
lished after due consent from Dr Kalam.
