POTTERY
Today, pottery thrives as an art form in India, and it is slowly gaining awareness as a functional items as well.

is proof of pottery being constructed in two ways, handmade and wheel-made.
. Some of the most popular forms of pottery include unglazed pottery, glazed pottery, terracotta, and paper
mache.
POTTERY IN BANGALORE Pottery lane is an old place in
Bangalore where people have been making pottery for decades. There's always a high demand of pottery specially during festivals.
The potters make traditional clay lamps, water pots, cups, flower pots, vases, candle holders and statues of Gods. Pots of every size and shape were piled in front of their homes.

BASKETRY Basket weaving is the process of
weaving unspun vegetable fibres into a basket or other similar form.

All over the area fine quality bamboo baskets are made which are put to various uses. The finest bamboo products are the fish traps, Whole bamboos are also used for making containers.

When lightened, they release fragrant smoke which is used in religious activities, prayers, therapeutic and aesthetic purposes.. Nearly 12 lakh people are directly or indirectly employed by the industry.

AGARBATTI IN BANGALORE Karnataka referred to as the Capital
of Agarbathi (Incense Sticks ) with Mysore and Bangalore being the main manufacturing centres.[
It is assumed that labour will Work for 300 days per annum, construct its own building.
Costs of machinery are based on average prices of machinery manufacturers.
The plant can be located at any suitable place keeping in view the marketing convenience, availability of power, water and skilled manpower.
There is no major pollution problem associated with this industry

workers are women & even involving children, belonging to either poor Muslim or Dalit households. Most of these women have taken up this profession due to their extremely miserable conditions & trapped by traditions to be confined within the house to do household chores or look after children.
Earning anywhere between Rs. 20 – Rs. 22 for every 1000 sticks

PROBLEMS The conditions of those workers working in
licensed agarbatti manufacturing units is no better.
The problems of these workers are not confined to wages & lack of social security alone, their working conditions remain extremely dismal. Confined to dark dingy rooms without proper ventilation & lack of provision of safety gear. Women face health problems like body pain & pain in the limbs due to the repetitive nature of work, skin & dust allergy , gynaecological problems such as abdominal pain, irregular menstruation, urinary problems & white discharge
No doubt the consciousness of the workers remain low. Any attempt to demand increase in wages or social security results in either the middlemen threatening to shift the unit elsewhere
