Garden Human POV
The garden is very well taken care
of by the grandmother. Nothing in
the garden is a coincidence even
though nothing is even. All the
objects in her garden has each
their own little story to tell, they
might be gifts from friends and
family, or souvenirs from
memorable moments of the
grandmothers long life. The colors
are worm with no threatening
elements of any kind. It has the
feeling of a timeless little world
that the grandmother feels safe
and secure in.

Garden Slug POV
When we see the garden from the
slugs POV, the garden is shown as
a sinister field of trials and danger.
The bushes and grass is like a
jungle with very limited depth. And
something as harmless as an area
of gravel will appear to the slugs
like a vast dessert.
All the colors will be slightly blue
and very desaturated. The garden
is suppose to be a battlefield to the
slugs and there will be a very big
contrast from the way the slugs
sees the garden to the way the
grandmother sees it.

Because the ground of the garden
is an entire landscape to the slugs,
the difference of material for the
ground plays a very big role in the
mood of the story. Grass will be
like a jungle, the bark will be like a
burned down ‘’village’’ that once
were green, and the garden path
will be like a rock dessert.
From human POV the garden will
look fairly mundane. But the slugs
will experience going through
many different elements of
locations that can be compared to
different real-world locations and
climate from all over the world.

Garden Props
We have props from the human
world that will be seen different
from the slugs view. And from the
slugs view we will see small props
like rocks, mushrooms and small
sorts of weed plants that we can’t
see from the human POV.
The props from the human world
will be old and cozy, nothing will
be even, but it all fits together. All
the props will tell the audience a
little more about who the
grandmother is.

Hedge Layout - Ground
The hedge will have very closed
space and the view out to the
garden will be overexposed, and we
wont be able to see anything of it.
Small rocks is speared out over the
soil on the ground. The scene will
mostly be lit by bounce light from
the outside, and few rays of light
that escapes through the leafs of
the bush will leave sharp and cold
lit patterns on the ground.

House
The Grandmothers house is small
and cozy with the style and spirit
of an old Norwegian house. It is
about 120 years old, and the years
have put it’s mark on the building.
The tiles on the roof is not all in
perfect uniform place, and small
piles of moss has started to grow
between some of the creaks in the
old tiles. The paint on the wooden
facade is worn and the planks are
slightly uneven.
It has to look harmless, fragile and
cute, and reflect the personality of
the grandmother.

Slugs Shader & Texture
The slugs will have semi realistic
shaders which will contrast there
very simple and basic silhouettes
and shapes in a way that will make
them more stylized and unique.
Most important is it, that the slugs
skin are slightly transparent and
of course it has to look slimy as
well.

Slugs Shapes
The silhouettes of the slugs are
very cartoony compared to there
shading and textures. There
shapes are very different from each
other, and there silhouette alone
should be strong enough to tell the
mood and basic personality of the
character.
The slugs have small props that
supports there role in the story,
things like weapons, helmets or
medals will help the viewer to
identify the character faster.

Slugs Sergeant
The Sergeant is the toughest and
meanest elite of all the slugs. His
skin looks thicker and rougher
than the rest of the slugs because
of his many years of service to the
mighty slug forces. He is not quite
as slimy as the rest of the slugs,
this will make him appear older
and rougher then the crowd. He
has stubs of beard on his massive
chin and his ‘’over lip antenna’’ is
suppose to look like a thick
mustache even though it’s
hairless.

Slugs Newbie
Our main character, the Newbie, is
fragile and nervous.
His old helm is too big for his
head, and it’s a much older version
than the helmets of the other
slugs. The helm will make Newbie
appear more clumsy and out of
place in the battle field. His eyes
are very big and his arms are quite
short and impractical. His skin is a
little more transparent than the
other slugs. This will support his
puniness, and make him look even
more fragile. He is also a little
more slimy than the rest, and this
will illustrate sweat that will make
him look more nervous.

Slugs Medic
The Medic is the biggest of all the
slugs. He is obese but has no
overlapping skin. His small head,
eyes and ‘’beard’’ contrasts his
huge body and makes him look
even bigger. He has small spots of
old, dried blood on his clothing,
showing that he has been at war
before and that he has experience
with being a medic. Except for the
blood, his gear is in good shape,
and one can see that he takes care
of his equipment.

Slugs Slugs
Human POV
When we see the slugs from the
human POV, the slugs have no
equipment what so ever. They
almost look like regular slugs from
our world, except for the fact that
they are matching our movies
shape language. The slugs well be
almost even in size. The only thing
that makes it possible to tell a
small difference between them, will
be there discreet variations in skin
color.

Grandma Human POV
The grandma is a very small old
lady. A person who everyone can
relate to there own beloved
grandma.
Her arms and legs are very thin
and fragile, her clothing is a little
too large for her body and looks
very old fashion. She is very short
and looks completely harmless.
Like the slugs, she has a very clear
silhouette and semi realistic
textures and shaders.

From the slugs POV, the
Grand-Mother is the ultimate foe.
She will appear as a gigantic
monster. And because we only see
her as a dark silhouette she will
look very intimidating. The only
detail we can see on her face is her
glasses, which will look like evil
white shining eyes instead of a
harmless pear of glasses. We will
also be able to spot small details
from her skin and clothing, but the
black color will dominate her look.
Her shape language will be way
more edgy and sharper than what
it is from human POV.

Lawn
Mower
The Lawn Mower will be a
oversized garden tool for the
grandma, in human POV. From
the slugs POV, the lawn mower will
look like a giant doom machine.
Where the grand mother sits, the
lawn mower will have curved edges
and corners. But up front, the
lawn mower will be sharp and
threatening. This is the only part
the slugs will see of the machine,
and we won’t have to make more
than one model of the lawn mower.
The front will also be rusty and
worn, which will make it look more
evil. And the headlights will look
like shining beastial yes.

VFX Overall Look
There are many cases in the movie
where we are in need of fluids and
particles for explosions, blood,
gunshots, fog, impacts and dust.
The VFX will have the same look
rules as the slugs design. Strong
and defined silhouettes with semi
realistic detail within the shape.

VFX Explosions
We have two types of explosions
though the movie. One of them is
the salt bomb explosion which is
going to be a basic cone shape.
The explosion will be fast and
consists mainly of dirt. We also
have the nuke clear explosion.
This one is going to be enormous
with a very defined shape of a
mushroom cloud. It will consist of
dark dust and lava like flames.

VFX Dust
We have many types of dust
movement in the movie. One of
them is for the leaf pickers ground
impact, that will be like a meteor,
or something very heavy crashing
down into the ground with no fire
but with lots of rocks and dust
thrown into the air. We also need
dust when the generic slugs are
marching downhill towards the
battlefield. The lawnmower will
have allot of particle effects as well.
Besides these examples, there will
also be need of fog and dust in the
air.

VFX Blood
The only fluids we have are the
blood of the slugs. It is going to be
red like ours, but it will be mixed
with slime and therefore it will
have a more dense consistence.
The blood will be flying through
the air and splattered on the
ground. We will be able to cheat
things like blood on ground and on
the characters texture and matte
paintings. So not all the blood is
going to be 3D.
