God Company Sri LankaA commitment to spread Gods word worldwide..

The original translation of SIN means "to miss the mark" of God's holy standard of
righteousness.
SIN separates us from God
The Apostle Paul says in Romans 3:23: "All have Sinned and fall short of the glory of
God."
We cannot reach the glory of God because of SIN.… the more you SIN the more one distance ones
self from God
"Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor His ear too dull to hear," "But YOUR INIQUITIES
HAVE SEPARATED YOU from your God; your SINS have HIDDEN HIS FACE FROM YOU, so that He will
not hear."
Isaiah 59: 1-2.
Tragically, SIN in any amount will distance us from God.
The Bible also says that WHEN YOU SIN, you automatically earn the penalty of death
23 For the wages of SIN is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Rom. 6:23.
THEREFORE WE SEEa. If we SIN we distance ourselves from God
b. Not only do we distance ourselves from God through SIN, it also hides His face from us
c. The repayment for SIN is deathd. That God gave the possibility of eternal life
through His only begotten son Jesus
Romans 3:23Isaiah 59: 1-2
Rom. 6:23
When most Christians consider "WHAT IS SIN?" we think of violations of the TEN COMMANDMENTS. Even then, we tend to
think of murder and adultery as "major" SINS compared with lying, cursing, blasphemy or idolatry.
This is because we have made a relative comparison and assumed that some Sins are more heinous because THE CIVIL
LAW considers them such…
We live in a culture where the concept of SIN has become entangled in legalistic arguments over right and wrong…
A form of justification.
Paul, puts THE MEANING OF SIN in perspective when he says:
"Therefore no one will be declared righteous in His sight by observing the law;
rather, through the law we become conscious of SIN."
Romans 3:20
Gods Law or the Civil Law
Even IF we have not murdered or committed adultery, we find ourselves guilty of LYING,
CHEATING, BLASPHEMY, NOT LOOKING AFTER OUR PARENTS,
or like in the case of many worshipping false idols like wealth or power AHEAD OF GOD.
Most times WE ARE FOUND GUILTY of breeching most of the other commandments
God’s law reveals SIN. God wants us to recognize our SINS.
WE LIVE IN DENIAL OF OUR SINFULNESS…AND MOST OFTEN FIND SOLACE IN SOME GOOD DEEDS THAT WE MAY HAVE DONE, AS LIVING RIGHTEOUSLY…
"If we claim to be without SIN, we DECEIVE OURSELVES and the truth is not in us. If we confess our SINS, HE IS FAITHFUL AND JUST and will forgive us our SINS and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not
Sinned, we make Him out to be a liar and His word has no place in our lives“
We ARE WARNED that we must resist the temptation to act as if we are righteous, especially by leaning on our good works.
1 John 1:8-10
John further states inI John 3:4,
“Whosoever commits SIN transgresses [breaks] also the law: for SIN is the transgression [breaking] of the law.”
When you SIN, you break the law.
The Apostle Paul wrote in Rom. 7:7 ,
“What shall we say then? Is the law SIN? God forbid. Nay, I had not known SIN, but by the law”.
But what law ARE THEY REFERRING TO ?
“…for I had not known lust, except the law had said, You shall not covet”
BY THE WAY…This is the Tenth Commandment, found in Exodus 20:17 and Deuteronomy 5:21. We consider lust as in reference to sex. But one can lust for many things. Money…
Power…Luxuries…actually thousands of things.
So we can come to the understanding that the law that Paul and John referred to was the Ten Commandments.
Both apostles taught that when you breech GODS COMMANDMENTS, you SIN.
Paul further explains in the same verse
Psalm 119:172 172 May my tongue sing of your word, for all your commands are righteous.
Since LIVING BY God’s commandments is righteousness then unrighteousness-(SIN)-is
the breach of the COMMANDMENTS. We can now further establish that SIN is
breaking GOD’S COMMANDMENTS.
I John 5:17, “All unrighteousness is SIN.”
Jesus said;“But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart [mind]; and they
defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders [Sixth Commandment], adulteries [Seventh Commandment], fornications, thefts [Eighth Commandment], false
witness [Ninth Commandment], blasphemies [Third Commandment]: These are the things which defile a man”.
Matthew. 15:18-20
SIN begins in the mind. What you think eventually becomes what you do .
Sin comes from within us. That is what impurifys us because our thoughts covert in to actions that are
mostly pleasing to us…
…but most of these actions NECESSARILY ARE NOT PLEASING TO GOD. When such actions breech His
COMMANDS…WE SIN
Believing that Jesus paid for all our Sins is at the foundation of Christianity. It is based on the FAITH that GOD SENT JESUS CHRIST AS HIS
SON TO EARTH. Voluntarily He sacrificed Himself to be humiliated, tortured, crucified on a cross and rose to life again to pay the debt for OUR SIN. So that by believing in Him and through REPENTANCE for our
SINS we have a brand new lease of life. A possibility of leaving all the old baggage and start a new journey seeking the Kingdom of God. This was
one purpose of His coming.
The other propose was to bring us THE MESSAGE OF SALVATION. His teachings giving us the directions to reach His Kingdom.
We have all sinned against God and yet He provided the only way for
atonement. Jesus Christ.
Even people who have never opened a Bible are familiar with
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16:
MARK 2: 17On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the
healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I HAVE NOT COME TO CALL THE RIGHTEOUS, BUT SINNERS."
Jesus came for sake of our Salvation… to release us from the clutches of Sin and Evil. How many of us do take this very seriously
and REPENT FOR OUR SINS?
LUKE 15:7I tell you that in the same way there will be more REJOICING IN HEAVEN over one sinner who repents than over ninety-
nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.
Because of Gods love He provided us a way for Salvation through Jesus Christ. We see in Luke 15 the extent of His
delight when a Sinner is saved. Jesus said …
God gave the possibility of Salvation from our Sins through His only begotten son Jesus
.
John 3:16:
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but
have everlasting life.”
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23
God knows that we Sin…He in fact knows “ALL” OUR SINS
When the adulterous woman was to be stoned to death Jesus said
John 8:7 “He who is without Sin, let him cast the first
stone.”
Everyone walked away. Jesus knew very well that they HAD TO WALK AWAY…because they were ALL GUILTY OF SIN
Without continuing to live in denial one has to
accept to being a Sinner AS THE FIRST STEP…
Romans 3:10-12
...There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good, not even one.
Once we arrive at this acceptance as Sinners then we need to find the solution for our Sins
The only solution is to find SALVATION through REPENTANCE for the Sins committed during all
the years you have lived…God gave us this possibility by sending His only
begotten son who left all the riches of heaven to come down to earth for the sake of our
SALVATION.
Matthew 4:17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, "REPENT,
FOR THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS NEAR.“
Mark 1:15"The time has come," he said. "The kingdom of God is
near. REPENT AND BELIEVE THE GOOD NEWS!"
Good news of our SALVATION brought to us by Jesus.
Luke 5:32I have not come to call the righteous, but SINNERS TO
REPENTANCE.“
Repentance is a change of THOUGHT AND ACTION to correct a wrong and gain forgiveness from a person who is wronged.
In Christian context it refers to cease SIN against God, and resolving to live according to His teachings.
It typically includes 1. An admission of Guilt
2. A promise or resolve not to repeat the offense; 3. An attempt live a life abiding Gods word in a manner
that is pleasing to Him.
God gave us this possibility through Jesus. If we believe in this(otherwise we cannot call our selves
Christians)…we have hope for OUR SALVATION.
Therefore the next step we need to accept Jesus as the savior.
By accepting Jesus as our savior, we then would be more open to His directives to us that is found in the
four Gospels.Through reading and understanding His word we will come to a greater awareness of Sin and how we need
to live and be a light unto others.
5Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have
their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
We see an excellent reference given by Paul in Romans 8:5
By reading, understanding and living by His word we can cease to live in accordance to our Sinful nature and make a new beginning to
live in accordance to the Spirit

We also come across what Jesus terms as an unforgivable Sin that we should be mindful at all
times
Mark 3:29 "But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will
never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is also referenced in
Matthew 12:31-32 and Luke 12:10.
