In the meeting held here onFriday, Shadi Lal Pandita, Co-convenor, PCC Migrant Celland President JTC said thatthough ration cards have beenissued to the migrant benefici-aries under employees andpensioner category but it issurprising that only 4 Kgration is being supplied againsteach ration card which doesnot meet the domestic needs ofthese migrant families whichhas put the migrants to lot ofsufferings. He has said thatthis meager quantity too is notbeing supplied regularly andtimely which has further addedto the sufferings of themigrants.
Pandita further said that thethen Prime Minister, DrManmohan Singh hadannounced employment pack-age of 6,000 posts forKashmiri Pandit migrant edu-cated youths out of which only3,000 posts have been filledwhile as remaining 3,000 postsunder this employment pack-age are still to be filled.
Pandita has said that theBJP had assured for perma-nent rehabilitation of theKashmiri Pandit community inKashmir Valley but it is sur-prising that despite lapse ofmore than four years nothinghas been done in this regardwith the result the communityis still living in exile.

The mayor took stock ofthe grievances of the resi-dents of Bahu Fort areawhich were raised by themregarding prevailing sanita-tion conditions, menace ofstray dogs/animals, properremoval of garbage fromtheir lanes on routine basis,remodeling of lanes/drains.
He directed the concernedofficers on spot regardingthe grievances of the resi-dents and sort it out on warfooting and also asked thepeople to avoid throwingtheir house hold garbagefilth etc. on the public lane
and drain which blocks thedrains and Nallahs and cre-ate unhygienic condition.
The mayor also requestedthe concerned councilor ofthe ward to identify suitablesite in her ward for furtherdisposal of house holdgarbage for segregation in aproper way and also directthe dairy owners not tothrow cow dung of dairies inthe public lane and drainsand avail the facilities ofloan of Rs.30,000 underproper subsidy of Rs.13,000 for installing Bio-
gas unit in their dairy farmunless they have sufficientland available within theirpremises and with the condi-tion that they would notthrow cow dung and otherwaste in the public lanes anddrains.

A field visit was organisedduring the camp where var-ious queries regardingweeds, crop condition andsome other issues of farm-ers discussed.
Weedicides and micronu-trients were provided tofarmers free of cost toeradicate all type of weeds.
The officials ofAgriculture Departmentadvised the farmers forspraying with adequatewater for best results fromweedicides. They furtheradvised minimum onepump per kanal for effec-tive use of weedicides.
"Power sprayers, powertiller, power weeder, etc.can be used for minimisemanpower. These alongwith many others equip-ments are available tofarmers on subsidy fromthe department," the offi-cials of AgricultureDepartment said andadvised to keep in touchwith extension agency ofthe department for maxi-mum benefits as depart-ment have many schemesfor welfare of farmer com-munity.

Lashing out hard at herstatement, the former DeputyChief Minister and seniorBJP leader, Kavinder Guptain his interview to a privatechannel said, it was veryunfortunate on the part ofsuch senior politician to issuemisleading statements whichare hostile to the process ofpeace and national interests.

Teen dies due to suffocationin Pattan, three others critical
STATE TIMES NEWSSRINAGAR: A teen died and three others were hospi-talised due to asphyxiation in Burran village of Pattan innorth Kashmir's Baramulla district on Friday.
As per the details from Pattan hospital administration, four persons were brought at SDH Pattan in a criticalstate on Friday morning after family members foundthem unconscious in their room. They were immediatelyshifted to SDH Pattan where a 13 year old boy identifiedas Haroon Rashid was declared dead on arrival. Thecause of the death according to BMO Pattan is suffoca-tion caused by gas heater. Three critically ill patientswere immediately shifted to a hospital in Srinagar fortreatment, he said.

JAMMU: Gandhi Nagar Police on Friday arrested a drugpeddler and recovered 30 grams herion from his posses-sion.
As per the details, a party from Police Station GandhiNagar during Naka at T Chowk Digiana forchecking/frisking of vehicles signalled one motorcycle(JK02CE/1870) coming towards Naka to stop butobserving the police motorcyclist tried to escape but wascaught.
During questioning he disclosed his name as MandeepSingh alias Mantu alias Taman son of Satnam Singh res-ident of Sanjay Nagar Digiana Jammu and on his check-ing, 30 gms heroin was recovered from his possession.

24 bovines rescued, 2 smugglers nabbed
STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: Police on Friday foiled a bovine smuggling bid byrescuing 24 bovines and arresting two smugglers.
As per the details, Gadigarh Police on a tip off laid aNaka at Babliayna area and intercepted a truck. Duringsearch, it was found laden with 24 bovines which wererescued. Two smugglers identified as Harbans Lal residentof Chak Mohd Yar and Devinder Singh resident of SimbalCamp were arrested and a case under relevant section oflaw was registered against them.

STATE TIMES NEWSNAGROTA: Continuing its war against drugs, componentpolice of Jammu District on Friday achieved a major suc-cess by busting a gang of narcotic smugglers and makinga recovery of huge consignment of high quality Charasfrom their possession.
As per the details, SP Police Component, Jammu, SSPSandeep Mehta deputed a team of component sleuthswho laid a joint Naka at Toll Plaza Nagrota along with aparty of Police Station, Nagrota.
During the checking of vehicles, one Santro Car (DL 9CM-7899) was stopped and during comprehensive searchof the said vehicle, 18 kg of high quality Charas whichwas concealed in specially designed chambers inside thebody of car was seized. On further enquiry, the two per-sons on board disclosed their identity as Mohd. AltafKhan (50) son of Mohd. Aslam Khan resident of ZakooraSrinagar and Rameez Raja (32) son of Mohd. Shafi resi-dent of of Hazratbal Srinagar. The said consignment ofnarcotics and the vehicle have been seized and both thepersons have been arrested. A case under relevant sec-tions of the law NDPS Act was registered at PoliceStation Nagrota. Further investigation is going on touncover the others involved in it which may lead to morearrests.
