News about Creative TourismSanta Fe Creative Tourism
We have grown to just under 90 experiences listed on santafecreativetourism.org. Many new hands-on experiences have been added from flamenco dance classes to traditional jewelry making workshops. We have also seen the release of Creative Tourism: A Global Conversation, a book inspired by the Santa Fe International Conference on Creative Tourism that took place in the fall of 2008. This is the first book of its kind on Creative Tourism and should be required reading for anyone working to promote a destination that offers customized creative, and meaningful travel experiences.Spreading the word about

Santa Fe’s rich culture
By hosting the 2008 Santa Fe International Creative Tourism Conference, Santa Fe has taken a leadership role for world-wide cities interested in promoting their creative economies. In 2009 Councilor Rebecca Wurzburger, Arts Commission Director Sabrina Pratt, and Arts Commission chairperson Cynthia Graves have made presentations at three international meetings and one in Las Cruces, New Mexico, showcasing Santa Fe as a creative city, sharing the knowledge gathered about creative tourism, and learning about innovative projects and programs happening in over 70 countries. All of these meetings were paid for by the hosting city. Because Santa Fe is not well known in many parts
of the world, and is so different from the large U.S. cities that have wider reputations, audiences are quite interested in learning about us. The attendance at these meetings totaled almost 700 people. The fact that our city has an unusual commitment to local cultural industries and authenticity puts Santa Fe in a position to discuss shared interests with people all over the world.
