HUMAN DEVELOPMENT CAMPAIGN
Please be generous in this week’s second collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. In the Unit-ed States, one in six people lives in poverty. With this collection you support programs that address the causes of poverty and provide a sustainable future for those who are struggling across the country. In addition, 25 percent of funds collected remain in our diocese to fund local anti-poverty projects. Please prayerfully consider how you can support this collection and work on the margins. More information about the Catholic Campaign for Human De-velopment can be found at www.usccb.org/cchd/collection
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.

Thanksgiving Food Drive
Our yearly Thanksgiving food drive will be held in the St. Therese School Gym on
Monday, November 20th from 6PM to 7PM.
We are requesting donations of frozen turkeys, turkey breasts, whole chickens, Cornish hens, canned hams, fresh and canned vegetables and fruits, desserts, breads, drinks and other products to be served at Thanksgiving Dinner.
The food collected will be distributed locally, at Our Lady of Sorrows in Jersey City and other outreach organizations in New Jersey. This year, as in the past, the need is great. We ask that you once again open your hearts to those less fortunate as the number of needy families continue to grow. We will be feeding over 50 families from our sister parish in Jersey City.
If you wish to make a monetary donation, please send it to:

St. Therese Students Honor Bergen County Veterans
The students of the Academy of St. Therese welcomed over forty veter-ans to their school in a very special assembly on Thursday, November 9, for an early Veterans Day ceremony. The veterans represented Army, Na-vy, Air Force and Marines, ranging in service from World War II into the twenty-first century. The Cresskill Po-lice Department presented the colors to begin the ceremony. Mr. Joe Cutolo of the Cresskill American Le-gion Post led the Pledge of Alle-giance.
Fr. Sam Citero, Pastor of the St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, offered the invocation and Mr. Glenn Clark, Prin-cipal of the Academy, welcomed the
guests. The Academy Choir, under the direction of Ms. Shari Minetti, provided musical selections. The most mov-ing moment occurred when the choir began to sing, “The Army Goes Rolling Along.” The veterans who had served in the army sprang to their feet as if it was muster, and stood at attention. This continued with the Navy personnel as, “Anchors Aweigh,” was sung, the Airmen during, “The U.S. Air Force,” and the Leathernecks during the “Marine Hymn.”
The vets were serenaded by the youngest Pre-K students with a sweet rendition of, “God Bless America.” And the kindergarten and first grade students presented each vet-eran with a rose. Graduates of St. Therese, who have served or are presently serving in the Armed Forces had their names read by second grade teacher, Ms. Kathy Mays. The emotions ran high as the choir sang an original by Minetti, “America Rising.”
In his closing remarks, Clark shared how when he was a young student his mother would ask every day what did he do in school, to which he would offer a one-word re-sponse, “Nothing.” He told the students that they could now go home and say, “Mom, today I met a real live hero!”
Army Vet, Arnold "Butch" Thompson, gets a rose and a hug from his granddaughter, Emma Savage at Academy of St. Therese.
ON LINE BIBLE SURVEY
Pope Francis has called on Christians to consult the Bible with the same frequency as they might consult their cellphones for messages. The Pope urged those present to give the Bible the same place in daily life as cellphones and asked: “What would happen if we turned back when we forget it, if we opened it more times a day, if we read the message of God contained in the Bible the way we read messages on our cellphones?”
Please take the time to respond to a brief online survey on the Bible and help us better understand the interest and need of our parish communities with respect to the Bible. The anonymous survey can be taken on your phone or computer at:
https://survey.research.bible/jfe/formSV_3ecNsVFfNYLTWG9.
The survey will be open from November 12-24. It will take only a few minutes and will give us valuable insights for planning. Thanks so much!
