INTERMISSION
EASTER Reflection by Jared Auclair
He is risen! He is risen! Alleluia! Alleluia! We
haven’t heard the Alleluia since our Lenten journey began
over forty days ago. Alleluia translates to praise Yahweh,
and has historically been thought of as a way for us on
earth to join in the Angel’s worship in heaven. It signifies
the creation of the Kingdom of heaven on earth, in the
form of the Church, and our participation in mass as a
participation in heaven. I often feel the most connected to
family and friends I’ve lost over the years during mass, as
we share in the same celebration of liturgy. Alleluia is
removed from the liturgy during Lent to signify we are
waiting for the Kingdom to come, and returns at Easter
when the Kingdom has come. He is risen! He is risen!
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Thus, Easter signifies, for Christians a new beginning.
This is born out through the viewing of the empty tomb in
the Gospel, and the risen Christ. It is also evident all
around us as we move from winter to spring, the season of
new life. Jesus rose from the dead and conquered sin and
death.
This Easter I pause to think of my Lenten journey and
overall Faith journey. For me, the witness of Jesus’
empty burial tomb is representative of the Faith
Christian’s must have. My faith is often expressed
through a strong personal relationship with Jesus. Our
relationship is as real as any other relationship in my life,
and it gives me great comfort to know no matter what I’m
doing or where I am Jesus is with me. I am never alone!
Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus? I
encourage you to explore that relationship through prayer
and thanksgiving.
Finally, as I reflect on Easter I’m left with one
predominant message, ALL OF GOD’S CHILDREN
ARE WELCOME here! Jesus came in Peace and Love,
and we should live to emulate that!
