Safety for Man and Machine
Today, the abundant functions offered by our range cover all the routine industrial applications
As well as their diversity of applications, Wieland safety switching devices possess other convincing advantages too:
The current 4000 series safety switching devices meet all the modern safety requirements and provide top technology at an economical price. Of course they meet all the safety requirements up to safety category 4 acc. to EN 954-1, as well as satisfying the EN 60204-1 directive and possessing approvals from BG (Berufsgenossenschaft), UL (Underwriters Listing Laboratories) and CSA (Canadian Standards Association).
• Safety door applications• Emergency stop functions• Switching edges, bumpers and
switching mats• Two-hand applications
• Valve position monitoring• Delayed interlock deactivation• Safe stoppage of movements• Light barrier applications
• Multifunctionality in the smallest of spaces
• Connection of all sorts of sensors, such as limit switches, electro-magnetic switches, emergency stop buttons, inductive sensors, light grilles with semiconductor outputs, etc.
• OSSD-compatible, so unaffected by test signals from connected sensors
• Supply voltage up to AC 230 V for worldwide compatibility
Safety and efficiency have always been of exceptional importance for Wieland, the connection pioneer for industrial automation and building installation. Schleicher Electronic – the Wieland electronics competence centre in Berlin – develops high-quality switching devices in 22.5 mm housings, uniting superb performance with low space requirement.
Safe SavingsWieland safety switching devices economize on everything: procurement costs, running costs, future disposal costs, time for install-ing and removing, space in the enclosure, resources during manufacturing. But not on safety.
Thanks to their sturdy design and robust electronics, Wieland safety switching devi-ces cope with industrial environments from
–25 °C to +55 °C. High EMC compatibility ensures safety function availability even under difficult electromagnetic conditions, for instance close to converters or radio transmitters. The uniform module width of 22.5 mm saves space and simplifies ex-change. Also, no tools are needed to attach modules to the DIN rail or remove them again. Versions with plug-in terminals save even more time during installation.

Developing the narrow housing has allowed us to increase environmental compatibility – in the manufacturing process and there-after. The ecological perspective takes in the whole life cycle of the safety switching devices, from resource-effective production using environmentally friendly materials right through to recycling-oriented design and unproblematic disposal.
• Cadmium-free relay contacts• Recyclable, halogen-free polycarbonate
housings and terminal carriers• Lettering by laser rather than
solvent-based printing• Electronics and plastic parts can be
sorted during disposal process without attached identifying labels

Supply voltage reset
Some systems with emergency stop monitor-ing, such as water treatment plant or compres-sor controls, can restart without danger after power failure. Nonetheless, DIN EN 60204-1 requires that restarting after emergency stop must be confirmed by actuating the reset button. This means that the safety switching device must not be configured for automatic start, because in that case both the starting lockout (start after supply voltage is switched on) and the restarting lockout (start after emergency stop button released or safety door closed) are disabled.
For this application we provide the SNO 4063K emergency stop relay and the SNT 4M63K safety door monitor in KR versions with a fixed supply voltage reset function. Even when configured for manual start, these devices start automatically when power is switched on, as long as the sensors signal „status good“. After power failure and when power is switched off and on again, the machine starts up without the reset button being actuated. But after the emergency stop button has been released the reset button must be actuated before the machine will start.

When emergency stop occurs the SNV 4063 KL allows controlled stopping of a drive through the delay-release enabling current path. After stopping the machine part is released safely.
The operate-delay enabling current path of the SNV 4063 KP allows con-trolled delayed interlock deactivation on a safety device. This means you can do without halt detection with additional sensors and evaluation units.

Safety Switching Devices 6 | 7
The safety switching devices in the 4000 series are available with fixed screw connections or four detachable plug-in terminals with screws for fast installation and removal. Coding pre-vents the slots being confused. The terminals accept conductor sizes from 0.14 to 2.5 mm2.
The SNT 4M63K is a basic device for monitoring separating safety devices and danger zones. This multifunctional relay can also be used for emergency stop applications up to category 4 and for valve monitoring.

Safety Door Monitors
Safety Switching Devices 8 | 9
The SNZ 4052K basic device protects the operator by monitoring synchro-nous operation of two-hand buttons or safety door circuits, e.g. on presses, cutting and bending machines, machining centres, etc.

Two-Hand Relays
The SNL 4062K light barrier evaluator and tester monitors one-way and reflection light barriers for securing hazardous areas. It can monitor two dependent or independent single-channel input circuits, e.g. light barriers and emergency stop. Malfunctions in the safety system are detected by a startup test and cyclical dynamic tests. Several light barriers can easily be cascaded.
Light Barrier Evaluator
Non-contact safety devices and OSSDA non-contact safety device is a setup of de-vices and/or components that work together for safety shutdown and detection of presence. The non-contact safety device has at least a sensor function (e.g. safety light barrier or other secure sensors), a monitoring function (e.g. cyclical self-tests) and an output switch-ing element (OSSD).
As an output switching element, the OSSD (Output Signal Switching Device) is part of a non-contact safety device as per EN 61496-1. It switches to off state if the light barrier or monitoring sensors are activated during normal operation.
The OSSD-compatible safety switching devices from Wieland allow you to connect sensors with potential-carrying semiconductor outputs (24 V potential switching). Function is also ensured with modulated self-test signals or overcurrent limitation on the semiconductor (i.e. OSSD compatability e.g. with control via light grille outputs).
SNL 4062K• Stop category 0, application up to safety
category 3, BWS Type 2 to EN 61496-1• 2 input channels for activation through one-

Expansion DevicesAll the basic devices in the 4000 series can be augmented with switching devices from the SNE series. The achieved stop and safety category is affected by the basic device used. The basic device and the SNE are coupled via the check-back path of the SNE.

ductor outputs in voltage range 15 to 30 V DC
