Of duty incidents/accidents in recent years include:
• Two PWs colliding - broken shoulder, ribs and rupture
spleen (practicing before an instructor course)
• Two ringos colliding - head injury
• Run away powerboat - no injuries (collecting safety boat
prior to session)
• Two powerboats colliding - fractured pelvis (on return from
safety boat driving)

Personal Watercraft
• Increase in both the PWPP and the PWSY
• Check the recoil on the throttle isn’t sticking
• Collision regulations must be taught practically using a
course marked out with buoys

• Windsurfing certificate sales show an downward trend especially at a Start Level:
– Pilot run during 2016 suggests:
• Centres fly the flag, but not certificating courses
– Big drop in overseas RYA certification sales, why might this be?
– Discussion groups will look at, please provide us with your input:
• Courses relevance
• Course hours/length
• Instructor delivery
• Certificate style
• Youth WS is mainly up on last year
