the Rocky Mountain
Park was signed into
law.
The park is
located 80 miles
northeast of
Denver, Colorado
The Rocky Mountain was formed when forces under the earth's crust were pushing against each other forcing the land to move up.

Rocky Mountain Park has been a
destination before the U.S.A was
even an idea
Its highest mountain is Longs Peak.
Its 14,259 feet. Its lowest point is
at 7,840 feet.
Commonly seen animals are
chipmunks, mule deer, elk,
bighorn sheep, ground
squirrels, black-billed
magpies, and chickadees.
The mountain attracts about
3 million visitors each year.

Before the late 18th century when French trappers and Spaniards stepped in, the Rocky Mountain area was a land of many tribes, including the Nez Percé, the Shoshone, the Crow, the Lakota and the Utes.
