• Non-Core– Options/Sub-Systems that are considered to be
peripheral, incidental or secondary and if left out, would still allow the system to retain it’s primary functionality. Sub-systems like Vehicle Tracking and Venue Bookings.
• Core– Options/Sub-Systems that are of central importance
and are considered to be fundamental to the system as a whole. These Options/Sub-Systems are required for the system to retain it’s primary functionality and as such are the key focus areas for the development plan. Sub-systems like Student Debtors and Counter/Cashbook

New Strategy!
• Speed up software delivery through a more modern release cycle strategy
What does it mean?
• Move away from a “Big Bang” release every 2 years to multiple “Incremental and Iterative” releases in a single year
Welcome to Integrator 4.1

Speedy Software Delivery
• Modern Release Cycle Strategy
Incremental and Iterative releases in a single year
• Improved devOps
• Less patches, a fixed patch schedule that allows for planned application

To answer some questions
• So what is this Integrator 4.1 mumbo jumbo?– It will be the last major upgrade project for the medium term
– It uses the latest available technology stack (Weblogic 12c)
– Will be fully supported and continuously enhanced
• But what does this mean for Integrator 5?– All Integrator 5 development done during 2017 is now available in Integrator 4.1
– Any further development for the medium term will happen on the Integrator 4.1 platform and will be rolled out on the new release cycle strategy
• Is Integrator 3 dying a painful death?– Integrator 3 is still supported, but not enhanced
– Enhancements to the standard software will be done in the Integrator 4.1 platform

Jasper - FYI
• All Oracle Reports (.rdf) in Integrator 4.1 will be discontinued over time.
• However, not all will be replaced with Jasper reports and some may become C programs or PL*SQL programs.
• Some current C programs may be replaced with Jasper reports where sensible.
• Although Oracle BI Discoverer is not part of the longer-term solution, it can still be installed with the Integrator 4.1 application server.
• Note that Discoverer Viewer and Discoverer Plus is not certified for the operating system used with Integrator 4.1 (Linux 7).
• The purpose of the Oracle BI Discoverer installation is to allow users at the client time to migrate to Jasper.
• Licensing will be covered by the annual maintenance.
