How does counselling work?
Experience has shown us that by giving people a place to talk and
resolve their issues they are able to cope with life and establish
meaningful and enjoyable futures. In many cases counselling has
been proven to be more effective than prescribed drugs and provide
a longer-term remedy for depression, anxiety, stress and even
physical ailments.
Our varied approaches to counselling ensure every client enjoys an
approach tailored to suit their needs, whether long or short term.
Finding out what to expect, where to go for advice and discussing
issues with others who have experienced similar issues can help
people to cope.
Trained counsellors can help individuals and families to work
through difficulties and to find their own solutions.
Counselling works by providing a neutral environment where clients
can be heard and where they can address their personal issues.
They are encouraged to look at how their attitudes to life inform
their decision making processes and subsequent actions and then
helped to make conscious changes without taking on behaviours
that are not innately their own. They are then able to function more
effectively in life.
All of our counsellors ensure that client confidentiality is maintained
at all times.

How can you benefit from counselling?
Having the opportunity to talk to someone can be very helpful. We can all benefit
from support, whether it’s from friends and family or specialist help from trusted
organisations.
Are you at a point of change in your life? Are you experiencing relationship
difficulties? Have you been made redundant or are you worrying about money or
your future? Are you being bullied or concerned about exams? Counselling can help
you work through issues like these and many others.
As you look at your own actions and the beliefs that help form your decision making
processes, you are able to make conscious changes without taking on external beliefs
or behaviours that are not yours. From this place of empowerment you are able to
function in life without choosing to let the stresses of life hinder or prevent you from
functioning effectively.
If you think that counselling can help you or someone you know, please call us to
speak to one of our experienced and qualified team who will be able to talk to you
about the options available and how you can access counselling and start to make
positive changes in your life. You can refer yourself to our counselling team or you can
see your GP who can refer you.
After speaking to one of our team, you will be offered an initial assessment by one of
our Senior Counsellors. They will then talk to you about the methods they think will be
the best for you and refer you on to one of our trained and experienced counsellors to
start your counselling programme.

How long does it take?
Each client is an individual, so putting a time-scale on how long it takes to
resolve issues would be difficult. From experience, clients who fully engage and
commit to the process tend to show signs of improvement and change within
a few sessions. The number of sessions is determined by the issues presented
and the willingness to work from the client. At Renewed we generally
recommend an initial 6 week programme that is reviewed and possibly
extended, depending on the client.
How much does it cost?
We want to make counselling available and affordable to everyone. We do this
by having a sliding scale of fees that we can utilise to work with clients on all
types of income.
Some counselling can be obtained through your GP at no cost to yourself.
Contact us to find out about costs.
...many GPs see as many patients for depression as high blood pressure, which is the most common physical ailment.

Counselling in the work place
In the current business climate, many employees are being encouraged to achieve
greater results with less support and fewer resources. Ensuring that your employees
are managing their stress levels and their work life balance effectively can lead to
better results, optimised outputs and reduced staff turnover.
Counselling in the workplace can help reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression,
improve mental health, lower levels of sickness and increase job satisfaction
and commitment. It provides a supportive remedy and an effective method of
understanding the pressure caused by occupational stress.
Stress and other mental health issues affect not only the person experiencing the
issue, but can also be counter-productive to those around them.
If you would like to introduce an employee counselling service in your organisation
we can help you to set this up. We can help you to plan an effective referral system for
your organisation and develop improvement plans for your team.
Integrating employee counselling into your organisation is a tangible investment into
the well being and development of your staff.
