Ralista (Generic Raloxifene HCl Tablets) is an estrogen agonist/antagonist used for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. It is also used for reduction in risk of invasive breast cancer in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis and for the reduction in risk of invasive breast cancer in postmenopausal women at high risk for invasive breast cancer.

Ralista (Generic Raloxifene HCl Tablets) have to be stored at controlled room temperature i.e. from 20C to 25C (68F to 77F) with excursions permitted between 15 to 30C (59 to 86F). Keep this as well as all other medicines away from children and pets.

The warnings and precautions associated with Ralista (Generic Raloxifene HCl Tablets) use are as follows:Venous Thromboembolism: Increased risk of deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and retinal vein thrombosis. Discontinue use hours prior to and during prolonged immobilization. Death Due to Stroke: Increased risk of death due to stroke occurred in a trial in postmenopausal women with documented coronary heart disease or at increased risk for major coronary events.

Cardiovascular Disease: Generic Raloxifene HCl tablets should not be used for the primary or secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease. Premenopausal Women: Use is not recommended. Hepatic Impairment: Use with caution. Concomitant Use with Systemic Estrogens: Not recommended. Hypertriglyceridemia: If previous treatment with estrogen resulted in hypertriglyceridemia, monitor serum triglycerides.

The recommended dosage is one 60 mg Ralista tablet daily, which may be administered at any time of the day with or without meals.

Contraindications
Ralista is contraindicated in patients with a hypersensitivity to Raloxifene Hydrochloride or any other component of this medication.Ralista is also contraindicated in cases of active or past history of venous thromboembolism, including deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and retinal vein thrombosis. Administration of this medicine is also contraindicated in Pregnancy, women who may become pregnant, and nursing mothers.

Generic Raloxifene side effects occurring in 2% or more of the patients and more common than with placebo include: hot flashes, leg cramps, peripheral edema, flu syndrome, arthralgia, sweating.
Raloxifene HCl Overdose

During trials with 63 postmenopausal women, a dose of Raloxifene Hydrochloride (HCl) of upto 600 mg/day was safely tolerated. In postmarketing spontaneous reports, Raloxifene overdose has been reported very rarely. The highest overdose has been approximately 1.5 grams. No fatalities associated with raloxifene overdose have been reported. Adverse reactions were reported in approximately half of the adults who took 180 mg or more of Raloxifene HCl tablets and included leg cramps and dizziness.

Two 18-month old children each ingested Raloxifene HCl 180 mg. In these two children, symptoms reported included ataxia, dizziness, vomiting, rash, diarrhea, tremor, and flushing, as well as increase in alkaline phosphatase. There is no specific antidote for Ralista (Raloxifene tablets).

Raloxifene HCl (Ralista Tablets) has been classified by the US FDA as Pregnancy Category X. Raloxifene Hydrochloride tablets (Ralista) are contraindicated in pregnancy, in women who may become pregnant, and in nursing mothers. Raloxifene HCl may cause foetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman. If this medicine is used during pregnancy, or if the patient becomes pregnant while taking this medicine the patient should be told of the potential hazard to the foetus.
