The Redpath Group
Incorporated in 1962, The Redpath Group
provides single source, comprehensive
services to the North American and
International mining industries. Technical
and operational expertise, contribute to
Redpath’s reputation for practical and
innovative performance resulting in the
successful completion of sophisticated or
technically complex mine development and
construction programs.
A combination of highly skilled personnel,
far ranging experience and modern
technology has made Redpath the driving
force in mine construction world wide.
Redpath Raiseboring
Redpath Raiseboring, a division of J.S. Redpath Limited,
the founding member of The Redpath Group, offers a full
turn-key service from management consulting, operations
personnel and service technicians.
Whether small or large diameter openings, Redpath meets
the demand for ventilation raises, production shafts, pilots
for slashed and raised shafts, escape manways, fill raises,
ore and waste passes and slot raises.
With one of the most extensive fleets of
raiseboring equipment in the world, Redpath
leads the way in technology and experience.
Technological advances, such as the introduction
of volts per hertz drives to the industry, now
becoming a standard in the manufacture of
raisedrills, and the capability of semi and fully
automated operation, combine to provide state-of-
the-art raiseboring.

Through its ability to complete raiseboring
assignments under difficult or unusual
conditions, Redpath has developed skills and
experience that are indispensable for clients
considering raiseboring projects of any scope.
The development of the Redpath Redbore
raisedrill is one result of innovation born of the
determination to meet specific challenges and
fill the clients needs. From the original Redbore
40 to the Redbore 100, Redpath Manufacturing
is pleased to present its Redbore family of
raisedrills.
Contracting experience combined with
manufacturing and service capabilities enable
Redpath to provide a level of service
unparalleled in the industry.

Meeting the Challenge
... is the guiding
principle by which Redpath operates and we
endeavour to make every Redpath job a safe one.
Everyone at Redpath has a responsibility to each
other and themselves to work safely.
To provide the mining industry with a level of service
that will exceed normally accepted standards is the
philosophy applied on all Redpath projects.
A quality product from concept to completion is the
result of this commitment.
We believe that respect for our natural environment
is paramount to the success of The Redpath Group
and our industry and we take the necessary
precautions for its protection.
As Redpath faces the challenges of the future, our
commitment to safety, quality and the environment
will continue.
In the mountains of Irian Jaya, Indonesia, Redpath has worked continuously since 1981, and has excavated raises inside adits at an elevation of 4 100 m (13,451 ft). Access to the mine and raise drill sites was either via the largest single span cable car tram in the world or by helicopter.
In the Arctic, Redpath raisebored the first raise in permafrost and completed surface raises during February and March when temperatures reached -40ºC. Access to these projects for machinery, personnel and supplies was primarily by aircraft.
In Northern Ontario - Constructed a 3.96 m (13 ft) diameter raise by 646 m (2,120 ft) long. A new Canadian record for largest by volume.

In Northern Ontario - 677 m (2,222 ft) of 3.05 m (10 ft) diameter. A Canadian record for longest single pull.
In Manitoba - 285 m of 5.1 m (16.6 ft) diameter. A Canadian record for largest diameter set.
Completed in excess of 43,000 ft of raises in one year (1999).
Directionally drilled a 1,349 ft pilot hole with a total deviation of 1.7 ft off target. A North American record for the longest directionally drilled hole with a raisedrill.
On one property, between 1985 and 2000, Redpath constructed all slot raises,
manways and ventilation raises with a Redbore 40-S. Approximately 15 850 m (52,000 ft) of raises were constructed without a lost-time injury.
2 103 m (6,900 ft) of 1.07 m (42 inches) diameter raises were constructed in an 11-month period.
