SEEMS – General information
The SEEMS hardware-software module is the main part of FMOS complex, which is addition to the ship’s automation system, intended for:
• Collecting all available data related to fuel consumption onboard;
• Transferring this data to company office for further storage and analyzing.
The system’s functionality meets the following requirements:
• IMO circular MEPC.1/Circ.683
• INTERTANKO “Guide for a Tanker Energy Efficiency Management Plan”(Edition 1, Dec 2009)
3
SEEMS structure
SEEMS consists of the following parts:
• Onboard station
• Server software
• “Client” application (for use in the office and onboard)
• Mobile on-line data access units (tablets)
4
SEEMS data sources
Main data sources:
• Main engine (RPM, power, propulsion modes, propeller pitch)• Auxiliary, Emergency, harbor diesel engines (active power)• Boilers (ON/OFF, local flow meters, load, exhaust gas temperature)• All other ship’s Consumers – Inert Gas Generator, Incinerator, Diesel pumps, etc. (ON/OFF, working modes)
Additional data sources (if any):
• Ship’s automation system• Direct fuel consumption meters (flow meters, level meters, temperature sensors)• Ship’s fuel system valves (HFO/MDO/MGO fuel type change signals)• Cargo system (for liquid cargo ships – cargo in tanks, cargo tanks valves state)
5
SEEMS onboard station (delivery set)
The SEEMS “Onboard station” includes the following components:
• PC (onboard “Data Poll/transfer” station)• Monitor and control units (keyboard/trackball)• Analog/discrete/digital converters(depending on connections required)
Purpose:
• Periodic polling of data sources for data collection• Sending the collected data to a server by specified communication channel• Receiving updates (new versions and configuration changes from the server)• Keeping the internal log
6
SEEMS serverPurpose:
• Receiving data from ships, recording and storage of data on Server LOCATED on SCF premises and SUPPORTED by SCF IT service;• Providing updates on ship’s data to “Client" applications for a specified period;• Sending new configuration/module versions of “Data collection module" onboard;• Automatic registration of voyages/operations (loading, discharge, sailing, bunkering, stay, drift).
SEEMS “Client” application
SEEMS Client is a windows-based console application installed on working station of each fleet operator in company’s office. Onboard Client is installed on the same PC with “Data collection module“.
Client application GUI (Graphic User Interface) consists of “startup window” (to select ship and period) and switching screens. Screens design and functions are described below.
Function: Ship\Period selection
SEEMS startup window provides selection:• vessel• time period
Each voyage contains 4 subsequent Operations:• Ballast voyage• Loading• Cargo voyage• Discharge (end Voyage)
Note: all received data are collected and stored on both Server and local HDD
8
Summarized voyage data:• voyage distance• cargo on board• consumption• EEOI (CO2 emissions index)
Function: Fuel consumption calculations
Displaying detailed fuel calculation data:
• Engines SFOC• Fuel type• Calculations by
different methods• Rest On Board (ROB)
10
Function: Fuel Diagram - Consumers
Fuel consumption diagram with ALL ship’s consumers based on ship’s fuel system:
• Fuel consumption rate• Summarized
consumption for EACH consumer
• Fuel level in service tanks
• Fuel type change
11
Function: Fuel Diagram - Transfer
Fuel diagram with ALL fuel tanks:
• Storage tanks• Service tanks• Settling tanks• Overflow tanks
Purifiers show fuel flow from Settling to Service tanks.
All available fuel types:• HFO• MDO• Gasoil
12
13
Function: Engines data
Displaying working parameters of Main Engine and Diesel Generators at each moment during the recorded voyage
Function: Cargo operations
Displaying cargo tanks state (with valves and pumps status indication)
14
Function: Fuel tanks table
Displaying fuel level/volume/mass in each tank at each moment during the voyage. <Report> button makes a report in any required form.
15
Function: Onboard
The only panel available onboard in on-line mode.
Intended for quick reference on fuel being consumed:• forecast on 12:00 next day• current• 1 hour/day ago• 2 hours/days ago.
Energy distribution monitoring:• for cargo operations• for propulsion• for own ship’s use.
17
18
Function: Onboard (other type)The <Onboard> panel is configured in accordance with crew needs in getting
operational information on generated energy currently in use and factors affecting its consumption.
