ma y g ive rise to pos sible failure c ond itions with the eq uipment a s supplied .
Never pla ce finge rs, han ds or other foreign ob jects into the S ine P ump during opera tion
as this could cause personal injury.
Never operate the Sine Pump with the front cover removed or loose as this could cause
fluid to s pill out of the pum p a nd co uld ultima tely res ult in pe rson a l injury.
Do no t operate the S ine P ump without the co upling g uard installed properly. Clothing,
bo dy p arts, tools o r other loo se items co ming in contac t with the pump/drive s ha ft or
coupling could result in severe personal injury or loss of life.
Before attempting to dismantle the Sine Pump, be sure that the power source to the
drive is d isc onne cted o r loc ked nut. Ensure that the electrica l sw itch g ea r ca nnot be
operated while any work is being done on the pump.

Receiv ing Your Sine Pump
NOTE: Your Sine P ump ha s be en inspec ted a t the factory prior to s hipment. All pumps a re shipped
read y for se rvice , i.e. c ompletely a ss emb led . The b ea ring housings ha ve be en s upplied with oil in them.
Inspect the shipping container and pump for evidence of damage during shipment.
If dama ge is found:
1. Note the extent of the da ma ge be fore unpa cking the pump.
2. Photograph the damage, as this is very helpful in making any claims against the carrier.
A pump lost or d a ma ge d during shipment is the respon sibility of the ca rrier. S undyne will as sist in
tracing any lost shipments.
After uncrating your Sine Pump:
1. Check to be sure that the suction and discharge nozzles are covered. If the nozzles protective covers
have c ome loos e or have b een removed during s hipment, it is importa nt tha t the pump interior beinspected. Any debris found in the pump should be removed.
2. Check the nameplate da ta a ga inst the shipping papers a nd a ga inst your purcha se order to insure
that the proper pump ha s b een provide d a nd that the ma terials of co nstruction match yo ur
specifications.
3. If applica ble, che ck to se e tha t the proper drive ha s be en s upplied , pa rticularly with rega rd to the
supply voltag e required.
4. Inspect the suc tion a nd d isc harge nozzles to be certain that they are free o f scratches and tha t they
are clean of a ny foreign s ubstanc es. The g a sket sea ting surfac es should be inspec ted ca refully,
es pec ia lly for vacuum an d s uction lift a pplica tions .
5. Liner/se a l housing removal tools ha ve be en provide d to a ss ist yo u with ma intenanc e o f the S ine
P ump. Thes e tools (there s hould be two) ca n be found in the crating .

Installat ion Procedures
NOTE: B efore a ttempting to op erate yo ur Sine P ump, w ork through the following items.
1. Chec k the c oupling align ment betwe en the drive a nd the pump. This s hould be don e only after the
pump, drive and base have been fully anchored. Refer to Figure 1 and the alignment sheet supplied
with the coupling, if applicable.

2. Be sure that the piping loads on the suction and discharge nozzles are not excessive. Flexible
connectors on both the suction and discharge side of the pump are recommended to eliminate pipe
stress or movement.
3. Chec k to b e s ure that the pump a nd piping a re free of foreign o bjects.
Ca ution: Do no t use the Sine Pump to flush or clea n the piping s ystem a s da mag e to the pump may
result.
4. Be sure to ch ec k all joint an d p iping co nnec tions to insure that they a re tig ht and free of air lea ks.
S uction leaks ca n ca use the pump to run inefficiently.
5. Press ure g aug es o n both the suction a nd discha rg e side of the pump are highly reco mmended .

1. Operation Guidel in es
The follow ing g uid elines a re impo rta nt to the prope r ope ration o f your S ine P ump:
1. Chec k to b e s ure tha t the d rive sha ft rota tion is c ompa tible with the de sired rotation o f the pump
shaft.
2. The s uction a nd d isc harg e nozz les on the pump hous ing will alwa ys rema in 90 a pa rt. How ever, the
pump hous ing c a n be rotated in 45 increments to s uit your de sired nozzle pos itioning a nd proce ss
need s. Refer to Figure 1 for the three pos itioning o ptions a nd to pa g e 22 for instructions on ho w to
rotate the pump housing.

3. The a pplica tion suc tion co nditions de termine the rotation of the pump sha ft and the orientation of the
scraperga te and scraperga te guide.
NOTE: The S ine P ump c a n ope rate in either a c loc kwise or co unterclockwise d irec tion with eq ual
performanc e provide d the s crap erga te a nd s crape rga te g uide a re insta lled properly. The fluid will
pa ss throug h a 270 a rc that will tra nsp ort it from suc tion to d isc harg e. Refer to Fig ure 2 a nd pa ge 20
for scrapergate and scrapergate guide installation instructions.

4. Ca ution: Do not run the S ine P ump dry. Dama ge to the wet end pa rts ma y res ult. If using the S ine
P ump in conjunction w ith a va ria ble spe ed drive, it is reco mmend ed to sta rt the d rive a t as low a
speed as possible. Be certain that liquid is available to the suction side of the pump beforeoperating.
5. On suction lift applications, top suction nozzle orientation should be avoided, as it is very difficult to
remove air from the pump in this position. It is necessary to fill the pump with water or product prior
to starting the drive.

6. Be certain that all suction and discharge valves lines, etc. in the system are open and clear of any
clog s. This will prevent ove r pres surization of the pump . Wa rning : The S ine Pu mp is no t supplied
with a relief valve a nd the ma ximum d isc harg e pres sure rating is 150 psi. Excee ding this ma ximum
pressure rating could result in severe personal injury.
7. The ma ximum S ine P ump operating spe ed s a re:

8. It is reco mmend ed tha t the S ine P ump wet end be fully disa ss emb led for cleaning a fter every use
per the instructions in the Wet End Disa ss emb ly s ec tion o f this m a nual. S anitizing the S ine P ump in
a Clea n-In-P la ce (CIP ) sys tem with a c ommo n d isinfec ting or rinsing so lution m a y no t fully c lea n thewet end of the pump.
9. Wa rning: When pumping e xplos ive, fla mma ble or haz a rdo us fluids , pleas e c ontac t the fa ctory for
applica tion a ss istanc e.
10. The S ine P ump a irborne noise e miss ions do not excee d 70 dB (A).

Wet End Disassembly, cont.
1. Remove the front cover, item 400, by removing the five wing nuts, item 441, and sliding the cover off
of the front cover studs, item 450. NOTE: Do not use a screwdriver or other prying instrument toseparate the cover from the housing. Damage to the stainless steel may result. A so ft ham mercan be used to separate the cover from the housing by tapping on the front cover pins, item 420,
loc a ted o n the outer diameter of the front cover.
2. The front suppo rt, item 370, ma y now be rem ove d from the front co ver for ins pec tion a nd c lean ing . If
the suppo rt is sta inles s stee l, remove the d yna mic face o-ring, item 515, from the g roo ve.
3. Remove the front liner, item 072, by pulling with even pressure on both ends. Pulling with uneven
press ure ma y ca use the liner to b ec ome lod g ed in the pump hous ing ma king it difficult to remove.NOTE: Pumping of high temperature fluids may also make the liners difficult to remove due tothermal expansion. If the pump ha s b een running a t a hig h temperature, a llow it to coo l be foreremoving the liner.
4. Remove the sha ft nut, item 231, from the s haft, item 200. Wrenc h fla ts ha ve b een ma chined o n the
rear of the sha ft for the purpo se of se curing the s ha ft while remo ving the nut. The rotor o-ring , item
030, ca n now b e removed from the g roove in the sha ft nut.
5. Next, the rotor, item 011, the sc raperga te, item 125, a nd the s crap erga te guide, item 100, ca n be
pulled of the s haft a nd remo ved from the pump hous ing. This will req uire two hand s.
6. Remo ve the rea r liner, item 072. This is whe re the liner/se a l housing remova l too ls will be he lpful
(refer to pa g e 26-27). Insert the ho oked end s of the liner pullers into the slots loca ted on e a ch end of
the liner. Ag ain, a pply even press ure o n b oth end s to prevent the liner from lodg ing the pump
housing.
7. The lip sea l hous ing , item 500, ma y now be remove d, a long w ith the sha ft slee ve, item 530. The
liner/sea l hous ing puller too ls sho uld be us ed here a g a in (refer to pag es 26-27). S imply ins ert the
pins on the pullers into the ho les in the o uter diame ter of the se a l hous ing, loc a ted 180from ea ch
other, and use the tool to lever the se a l hous ing out of the pump ho using. Refer to pa g e 33-35, Sea l
Options, for a diagram showing your specific seal arrangement. If the seal housing is stainless steel,remove the dyna mic fa ce o-ring, item 515, from the g roove. For further disa ss emb ly proced ures for
your specific seal arrangement, refer to the seal system disassembly section of this manual.
8. Remo ve the sha ft s leeve, item 530, from the s ea l hous ing . The rotor o-ring , item 030, ca n then be
removed from the g roove in the sha ft sleeve.
9. The s ea l housing o-ring, item 540, ma y then b e removed from the g roo ve in the pump hous ing .
There is a s ma ll notch in the bo re of the pum p hous ing to fac ilitate e a sy rem ova l of the o-ring .
10. S hould removal of the pump ho using, item 300, be required , remove the hous ing mounting bo lts,
item 340, and ho using mo unting wa she rs, item 345, which c onnec t the pump ho using to the powe r
frame, item 600. Warning: Suitable lifting equipment should be used when removing the pumphousing to ensure that personal injury or damage to pump components does not occur.

Wet End As sembly
1. P la ce the pump hous ing , item 300, onto the po wer fram e, item 600, by fitting the ope ning in the ba ck
of the pump housing o ver the s ha ft, item 200. NOTE: B e s ure tha t the ma ting flang es of the powe r
frame and pump housing are free of any debris or nicks, as this may cause misalignment of the
rotor. Warning: Suitable lifting equipment should be used when installing the pump housing to
ensure that personal injury or damage to pump components does not occur.
2. Insta ll the ho using mo unting wa she rs, item 345, and hous ing mounting bolts, item 340, through the
rear of the po wer fra me. The b olts s hould be tigh tened e venly a nd to the torq ue s pec ifica tion
provided on pa ge 28.
3. Replace the seal housing o-ring, item 540, by fitting it into the groove in the rear of the pump
hous ing. Apply a food g ra de lubrica nt to the o -ring be fore insta lla tion.
4. If the lip s ea l housing, item 500, is s tainles s stee l, repla ce the dyna mic fac e o -ring, item 515, by
pla cing it into the g roove a t the e nd o f the s ea l housing . Apply a food grad e lubrica nt to the o -ring
before installing . P la ce the se a l hous ing into the bo re in the rear of the pump hous ing , item 300,
suc h that the remo val holes on the o uter diame ter a re expos ed. NOTE: Lubrica ting the outer
diame ter of the rea r of the se a l hous ing will promote ea sy a ss emb ly with the s ea l hous ing o-ring ,item 540. If the se a l hous ing is s tainless ste el, the anti-rotation pin in the rea r of the s ea l hous ing
must b e s ea led properly in the s lot in the rear of the pump hous ing. To properly s ea t the sea l
hous ing, plac e the rotor, item 011, a nd the s ha ft nut, item 231, over the sha ft, item 200. Tig hten the
sha ft nut to force the s ea l hous ing pa st the s ea l hous ing o-ring. Remo ve the rotor and sha ft nut from
the sha ft before procee ding. For further a ss emb ly proced ures for your spec ific s ea l a rra ng eme nt,
refer to the seal system assembly section of this manual.
5. Replace one of the rotor o-ring s, item 030, by pla cing it into the g roove on the e nd o f the s ha ft
slee ve, item 530. Apply a foo d g rad e lubrica nt to the o-ring be fore ins talling . The s ha ft slee ve my
then be fitted over the s ha ft a nd into the s ea l hous ing.
6. Install one of the liners, item 072, into the pump housing being sure to fit the liner between the two
a nti-rota tion pins loca ted on the interna l dia meter of the pump ho using. Apply even press ure to bo thend s to prevent the liner from bec oming lodg ed in the pump hous ing.
7. Place the scrapergate, item 125, into the scrapergate guide, item 100, being sure that the marked
ends (SL and SR) match up properly. Referencing page 20 of this manual, place the scrapergate
and sc rape rg ate g uide in the des ired orientation. Using both ha nds, this as semb ly ca n then be
placed on the rotor, item 011, such that the opening in the scrapergate and scrapergate guide fit
over the rotor va ne. Install this three-piece a ss emb ly in the pump by pla cing the s crape rga te g uide
into the bore loca ted b etween the s uction a nd d isc harg e noz zle and fitting the rotor over the s plined
se ction of the sha ft. NOTE: There is no front or ba ck to the rotor, so it ca n be ins erted e ither wa y.
Once the rotor meets the rotor o-ring on the sha ft sleeve, a pply extra press ure to insure tha t the rotor
is se ated over the o -ring.
8. Replace the other rotor o-ring, item 030, by placing it into the groove on the end of the shaft nut, item
231. Apply a foo d g rad e lubrica nt to the o -ring be fore ins talling. The s ha ft nut ca n then be tig htened
onto the s ha ft. Wrench fla ts ha ve be en ma chined o n the rea r of the sha ft for the purpos e of s ecuring
the sha ft while tigh tening the s haft nut. Torque the s ha ft nut to the s pec ifica tion listed on pa g e 28.
9. Install the other liner, item 072, into the pump housing being sure to fit the liner between the two anti-
rotation pins loca ted o n the interna l dia meter of the pump hous ing . Apply even p ress ure to b oth
ends such that the liner does not beco me lodg ed in the pump housing.

10. The front co ver o-ring , item 430, ca n then be p la ce d into the groo ve on the front of the pum p
housing. Applying a food grade lubricant to the o-ring will keep it from slipping out of the groove.
11. If the front support, item 370, is stainless steel, replace the dynamic face o-ring, item 515, by placing
it into the groove at the end of the front support. Apply a food grade lubricant to the o-ring before
installing. Place the front support into the bore in the front cover, item 400, with the slots beinginstalled first.
12. P lac e the front co ver and front suppo rt a ss emb ly onto the front of the pump ho using b y lining up the
front cover studs, item 450, with the corresponding holes in the cover. Front cover pins, item 420,
have be en plac ed on the o uter diame ter of the front co ver to fac ilitate this.
13. Ins tall the five wing nuts , item 441, by ha nd tightening the m onto the front co ver studs . The wing nuts
may be further tightened with a soft-headed hammer. NOTE: If the front cover does not seatproperly against the pump housing face, remove the cover and examine the internalcomponents checking for proper alignment.
Power End Disassembly

1. Before beginning the power end disassembly, follow steps 1 through 11 in the wet end disassembly
se ction o f this m a nual.
2. Drain the oil from the bearing housing, item 700, by removing the oil drain plug, item 737, located on
the bottom of the bearing housing.

3. Remove the bearing housing mounting cap screws, item 640, which connect the bearing housing,
item 700, to the pow er fra me, item 600. The b ea ring hous ing ma y then b e removed by p ulling the
shaft, item 200, and bearing housing away from the power frame. NOTE: Be sure to support thebearing housing such that the shaft will not be damaged when pulling it through the hole in thepower frame.
4. Remove the shims, item 800, which are located where the bearing housing meets the power frame.
5. Remove the bea ring housing cover ca p s crews, item 768, which c onnect the be aring housing cover,
item 761, to the bea ring ho using. The be a ring ho using c over ca n then be removed .
6. Using a punch a nd ha mmer or a press , remo ve the outboa rd oil se a l, item 742, from the co ver.
NOTE: Be careful not to damage the bearing housing cover when removing the seal.
7. Loos en the four sma ll set sc rews loca ted in the bea ring loc knut, item 750. The b ea ring loc knut ca n
then b e unsc rewed and removed from the s haft.
8. Using a press, remove the shaft from the bearing housing by applying force to the key end of the
sha ft. As the sha ft is be ing force d o ut of the b ea ring hous ing , the rear tape red roller bea ring innerrace , item 770, is b eing removed from the s ha ft. NOTE: The shaft will come free and drop out ofthebearing housing when the bearing is pressed out. Be sure to support the shaft such that itwill not be damaged.
9. Remove the inboard oil seal, item 741, by simply pulling it off of the shaft.
10. Remove the front tape red roller bea ring inner rac e, item 770, b y press ing the be a ring off of the s haft.
11. Using a punch and hammer or a press, remove the front and rear tapered roller bearing outer races,
item 770, from the be aring hous ing . NOTE: Be careful not to damage the internal diameter of thebearing housing when removing the outer races.
Power End Assembly
1. P ress the front a nd rea r ta pered roller bea ring outer ra ce s, item 770, into the b ea ring hous ing , item

sha ft on top. Hea t one o f the tap ered roller bea ring inner ra ce s (in the ca se of the MR-150 a nd MR-
150RF, the large r of the two be a ring s ), item 770, to a tem pera ture of 250F. Therma l expa ns ion of the
be a ring will allow it to fit into the sha ft. NOTE: Do not overheat the inner race, as this will distort
the roller support. While the bearing is hot, fit it onto the shaft until it reaches the step, with thetapered section facing upward.
3. P la ce the be a ring hous ing, item 700, fla ng ed se ction first, over the s ha ft. This will sea t the front
bearing inner and outer races.
4. Heat the other tapered roller bearing inner race, item 770, to a temperature of 250F. While the
bearing is hot, place it onto the shaft with the tapered section facing down into the bearing housing.
This will sea t the b a ck be a ring inner and outer ra ces .

5. With the bearing still hot, tighten the bearing locknut, item 750, onto the shaft, only enough to
eliminate any float between the shaft and the bearing housing. NOTE: The holes for the set screwsmust be facing upward or out of the bearing housing when the bearing locknut is installed.While tightening the bearing locknut, rotate the bearing housing a few times to insure that thebearings have seated properly.
6. After allowing the assembly to cool, tighten the bearing locknut until the torque required to turn the
sha ft fa lls within the following rang e of your sp ec ific pump m od el:
MR-120 a nd MR-125 = 1 to 3 in lbs
MR-130 and MR-135 and MR-135RF = 6 to 8 in lbs
MR-150 a nd MR-150RF = 8 to 10 in lbs
This req uires tig htening the sh a ft nut, item 231, onto the s haft, item 200, and using a torque w renc h
to mea sure the torque req uired to turn the s haft. NOTE: Remember, this is the torque required toturn the shaft. The actual torque required to turn the bearing locknut is much greater.
7. Tig hten the four set sc rews on the be a ring loc knut.
8. P ress the outbo a rd oil se al, item 742, into the b ea ring hous ing co ver, item 761, with the lip s ec tion o f
the sea l fac ing outwa rd. Be s ure to lubrica te the inner and outer dia meter of the lip se a l.
9. Apply a q uality ga sket sea la nt to the ma ting s urfac e of the bea ring housing c over, item 761, a nd the
bea ring housing, item 700. Fit the bea ring hous ing co ver onto the bea ring hous ing while lining up
the holes for the bearing housing cover cap screws, item 768. Fit the bearing housing cover cap
screws into the holes and tighten to the torque specification provided on page 28.
10.Press the inboard oil seal, item 741, into the bearing housing by fitting it, lip section first, over the wetend of the shaft. Be sure to lubricate the inner and outer diameter of the lip seal.
11. Clean the mating surfaces between the bearing housing, item 700, and the power frame, item 600, to
insure that no d ebris is b etwee n the pa rts. Fit the be a ring hous ing onto the po wer fra me w hile liningup the holes for the bea ring ho using mounting c ap s crews , item 640. The be a ring ho using mus t be
oriented suc h that the dra in plug, item 737, is loc a ted a t the b ottom. NOTE: Be sure to support thebearing housing such that the shaft will not be damaged while fitting it through the hole in thepower frame. Fit the bearing housing mounting cap screws into the holes and tighten to thetorque specification provided on page 28.
12. Install and tighten the drain plug, item 737.
13. Remo ve the oil fill plug a nd oil level plug , items 737. Fill the b ea ring hous ing with oil until the o il is
visible through the level hole. Refer to page 23 for oil lubrication recommendations. NOTE: Fill thebearing housing with oil only to the oil level hole, as overfilling may cause the bearings to failprematurely. Replace and tighten the oil fill and oil level plugs.
14. Be fore replacing the pa rts in the w et end of the pump, refer to pa ge 19 for shimming instructions .
NOTE: The bearing housing must always be shimmed when the bearings are changed or thebearing housing is removed for the purpose of properly locating the rotor in the center of thepump.

Shimm ing for Proper Shaft Locat ion
Proper shaft location will insure that the rotor is positioned in the center of the wet end of the pump.
Failure to po sition the rotor correc tly ma y result in exces sive and premature wea r to the w et end pa rts.
Here a re the s teps nec ess ary to shim your S ine P ump.
1. Insta ll the b ea ring hous ing , item 700, into the pow er fram e, item 600, a nd tigh ten the be a ring
hous ing mounting ca p s crews , item 640. Insta ll the pump hous ing, item 300, on the po wer fra me
a nd tighten the hous ing m ounting b olts, item 340. The ma ting s urface s b etwee n the parts s hould be
cleane d to elimina te a ny de bris o r burrs. NOTE: Be sure that both the cap screws and bolts aretightened to the torque specification provided on page 28.
2. Insta ll the s ha ft sleeve, item 530, over the w et end of the sha ft, item 200 as sho wn in Figure 1 be low.
The s haft sleeve s hould be pushe d o nto the sha ft until it rea che s the sho ulde r. The ma ting surfa ce s
between the sleeve and the shaft should be cleaned to eliminate any debris or burrs.
3. Using a de pth micrometer, or other tool which mea sures increments o f 0.001, mea sure the
dimension from the shoulder on the shaft sleeve to the back face of the pump housing as shown in
Fig ure 1.
4. S ubtra ct the me as ureme nt which you rec eived in s tep 3 from the X dimens ion listed in the c ha rtbelow for your pump mod el. The result will equa l the a mount of shim nec es sa ry to install be tween
the b ea ring housing and power frame. NOTE: If the dimensions listed are considerably differentfrom your measurement, please contact Sine Pump Technical Services at 303-425-0800.Remove the shaft sleeve from the shaft. Loosen and remove the bearing housing mountingcap screws. Remove the bearing housing and shaft assembly from the power frame.
5. Remove the shaft sleeve from the shaft. Loosen and remove the bearing housing mounting cap
sc rews. Remove the bea ring hous ing a nd s haft ass embly from the power fram e.
6. Install the correct thickness of shim, item 800, required to fit within the tolerance listed in the chart
below for your pump model. Place the shim over the bearing housing flange such that the holes in
the shim are lined up with the holes on the b ea ring hous ing flang e.
7. Install the bearing housing into the power frame and tighten the bearing housing mounting cap
screws. NOTE: Be sure that the cap screws are tightened to the torque specification providedon page 28. Verify your measurements.

The sc raperga te has b een des igned with an a ngle on eac h of its ends a nd a c hannel on the discharge
side for optimum performance and life span. It is used to separate the suction and discharge sides of the
pump. To ens ure prop er opera tion, it is e ss ential that thes e ins talla tion instructions be followed ca refully.
The sc raperga te has a s uction s ide a nd a discha rge s ide a s s how n in Fig ure 1. If viewe d from the top,
the s crapergate is wider on the s uction s ide than on the discharge side. One of the ang led e nds of thesc rag ergate ha s b een s tamped SL for suction left and the other has bee n stampe d SR for suction
rig ht. The sc ra perga te guide a lso has a s uction s ide a nd a disc harg e side a s s hown in Fig ure 2. If viewe d
from the end, the scraperga te guide has a rounded, wider sec tion which correspond s to the s uction s ide
and a thin, flat s ection which correspo nds to the d isc harge s ide. The ends of the s craperga te guide has
a lso b een sta mped w ith the marking s S L a nd S R.

Your suction c ond itions co upled with the nozzle orientation determine how the sc ra perga te and
sc raperga te guide sho uld b e insta lled in the S ine P ump. The two mos t commo n Sine Pump flow
conditions are shown in Figure 4. When viewing the pump from the front (where the front cover is
loc ated ), if the produc t were to enter the S ine P ump throug h the nozzle loc a ted a t the 12 oclock pos ition
a nd leave the pump throug h the nozzle loca ted a t the 3 ocloc k position a s d epicted o n the left in Figure
4, the suc tion left co ndition wo uld a pply. Thus, the sc ra perga te and s crap erga te guide sho uld b e
insta lled with the S L ma rking s fa cing o ut tow a rds the front co ver of the pump. This c orres pond s to a
co unterclockwis e rotation o f the sha ft.
When viewing the pump from the front, if the product were to enter the Sine Pump through the nozzle
loc ated a t the 3 oclock position a nd leave the pump throug h the nozzle loc a ted a t the 12 oclock
pos ition a s d epicted on the rig ht in Fig ure 4, the s uction rig ht co ndition w ould a pply. Thus the
sc raperga te and sc rape rga te guide s hould b e installed w ith the S R ma rkings fac ing o ut towa rds the
front co ver of the p ump. This co rres pond s to a clockwise rotation of the sh aft.

Pump Housin g Rotat ion Instruc t ions
The pump housing ca n be rotated to loca te the inlet a nd o utlet nozzles in the three different pos itions
sho wn in Fig ure 1. This a llow s for six different operating co nditions ba se d on the rotation of the pump
sha ft. Figure 1 s hows the various pumping o rientations w ith arrows de picting sha ft rotation. In the
diagram, the inlet and outlet nozzles have b een ma rked S to d epict suction a nd D to d epict
discharge.
To rota te the pum p hous ing to fit your inlet and outlet piping c ond itions, s imply follow thes e instructions :
1. Remove a ll of the parts from the w et end o f the pump. Refer to the Wet End Disa ss emb ly s ection of
this ma nual.
2. Loosen and remove the housing mounting bolts, item 340, and the housing mounting washers, item
345, which a ttac h the pump hous ing , item 300, to the po wer fra me, item 600. Warning: Suitablelifting equipment should be used when removing and installing the pump housing to ensurethat personal injury or damage to pump components does not occur.

3. Rotate the pump housing such that the nozzles are in a desired position. Holes have already been
drilled in the rear of the pump housing to facilitate any position of the nozzles.
4. Place the pump housing back onto the power frame being sure to align the bolt holes of both parts.
Install the housing mounting washers and bolts and tighten to the torque specification on page 28.
NOTE: Failure to tighten the bolts to the specification may cause damage to the wet end parts,as the rotor will not be centered in the housing properly.
5. Replace the pa rts in the wet e nd o f the pump. Refer to the Wet End Ass emb ly sec tion o f this ma nual.
Be s ure to install the sc ra perga te and sc raperga te guide in the correc t position. Refer to pa g e 20.

Bear ing Oi l Lub r icat ion Recommendat ions
There a re three plugs loc a ted in the be a ring hous ing a s sho wn in Figure 1 b elow. To d etermine if the
be a ring s a re properly lubrica ted, remove the level plug. If oil is not visible, remove the fill plug a nd fill the
be aring hous ing until oil is visible throug h the level plug hole. Replac e bo th plugs .
For prope r lubrica tion a nd m a intenanc e, us e the follow ing guidelines :
1. Us e Lubriplate FMO 2400 AW gear oilor eq uivalent foo d g ra de oil in the bea ring hous ing.
2. Chec k the o il level weekly. B e s ure that a ll plugs a re fully tig htened when insta lling to prevent water or
other foreig n ma tter from entering the be aring hous ing.
3. Cha nge the oil every 5000 hours of operation for ambient temperature pumpa ge . Cha nge the oil
every 2000 hours of opera tion for pumpag e a bo ve 150F.
4. Fill the bea ring hous ing with oil only to the level hole, as overfilling ma y ca use the bea ring s to fa il
prematurely.

follow the s teps b elow a nd refer to Figure 1 and the a ss oc iated pa rts list. Insta ll the hinge only when the
front cover is attached to the pump housing.
1. Atta ch the ring a rm, item 1a o r 1b, to the top noz zle of the pump a nd insert the two c a p sc rews, item
3, into the s lots on the d iame ter of the ring . Do no t tig hten the ca p sc rews co mpletely. NOTE: The
ring a rm is two piec es , a ha lf ring a nd a ha lf ring with a rectang ula r bar we lde d to it. The ring a rm ca n
point to either side o f the pump d epend ing on w hich w a y you prefer the front co ver to sw ing a wa y
from the pump ho using.
2. S tac k the following items, w ith their holes a lig ned, a bove the hole a t the e nd o f the ring a rm in the
order listed : a .) one plas tic wa she r, item 4, b .) the pivot arm, item 2, using the sm aller diameter hole
c.) the other plas tic w a she r, item 4, a nd d .) the s tainles s stee l was her, item 5. Insta ll the b olt, item 5,
by fitting it throug h the sta cked items a nd threa ding it into the ho le o n the right arm. Tig hten the b olt
until the pa rts a re se cure but loos e e noug h to a llow rotation of the pivot a rm. Threa d the hex nut,
item 7, onto the b olt and tig hten se curely to lock the b olt in plac e.
3. Attac h the rod end, item 8, with two wa she rs, item 11, on either side o f the ba ll, to the front co verusing the bo lt, item 10. The b olt will threa d into the ta ppe d ho le on the front cove r.
4. P lac e the w as her, item 11, on the b olt, item 9, a nd insert the b olt throug h the hole on the e nd o f the
pivot a rm. Threa d the he x nut, item 12, onto the en d o f the bo lt, but do not tig hten.
5. With the rod end held upwa rds tow a rd the pivot arm, threa d the b olt into the hole in the rod e nd.
6. Rota te the ring a rm until the rod e nd is vertica l a s s how n in Fig ure 1. Tig hten the ca p sc rews until the
ring a rm is se cure.
7. Tig hten the bo lt which c onnec ts the pivot arm to the rod end until the he a d c ome s into co ntac t with
the wa sher.
8. Remove the wing nuts a nd front cover. By either tig htening or loo se ning the hex nut on top of the rod
end or ad justing the alig nment of the ring a rm, the height of the front cover whe n ha nging c an b e
modified to ea se a ss embly.
Two ho les ha ve be en d rilled and tappe d in the fac e of the front cover to ho use the bolt which holds
the front co ver onto the hing e a ss emb ly. One of the holes will not be us ed de pend ing on the loc a tion
of the hing e a ss emb ly a nd the o rientation of the inlet a nd outlet nozzles. This ho le ca n be fitted with
a 3/8 16 x bo lt.

How to u se the Remov al Tools
Remova l tools are supplied w ith every new S ine P ump. The tools are sha ped like skate blad es a nd ha ve
a pin extending from one end (see Fig ure 1). Thes e too ls are us ed for remo ving the rear liner an d the
sea l housing

To us e the too l remove the s ea l hou sing from the pump , simply ins ert the pin at the end of the tool intothe hole on the o uter diame ter of the se al hous ing (see Fig ure 2). Two holes ha ve b een d rilled in the s ea l
hous ing, 180 a pa rt, to fa cilitate the use o f both tools. B y a pplying d ownw a rd pres sure to the hooked
end s o f the tools, the s ea l hous ing will be pulled from the rea r of the pump hous ing. Always use bo th
tools when remo ving the se al hous ing to prevent it from wed g ing in the pump hous ing.

This seal arrangement uses two lip seals and a flush mediato seal product into the Sine Pump. Both lip sealsincorporate a stainless steel support ring and snap ringenabling the assembly to withstand product and flushpressures up to 150 psi. Figure 1 shows a list of parts andan accompanying cross section drawing which makes upthe double lip seal with flush assembly.
This seal arrangement uses two o-rings and a flush
media to seal product into the Sine Pump. This type ofseal can be used only when product and flush pressuresdo not exceed 100 psi and the shaft speed does notexceed 3000 rpm. Figure 2 shows a list of parts and anaccompanying cross section drawing which makes upthe o-ring seal assembly.
