Class planned for those with vision lossVision Loss Resources will

host a fi ve-week skills class for people who are blind or visu-ally impaired, from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays, Aug. 26 and Sept. 2,

Notice is hereby given that theCity Council of the City of PriorLake, Minnesota will meet in theCouncil Chambers at City Hall, 4646Dakota Street SE, on Tuesday, the2nd of September, 2008 at 6:00 P.M.to consider the assessment of thefollowing street:

PROJECT DESCRIPTIONReconstruction of Brooks

Circle, Fillmore Avenue, ItascaAvenue south of Summer Street,and Franklin Trail from BrooksCircle to 200 feet South, includinggrading, sanitary sewer,watermain, storm sewer, aggregatebase, concrete curb and gutter, bi-tuminous surfacing, utility im-provements, and appurtenant work.

The area proposed to be assessedconsists of every lot, piece or parcelof land benefited by said improve-ment, which has been ordered madeand is as follows:

Brooks Circle, Fillmore Av-enue, Itasca Avenue south of Sum-mer Street, and Franklin Trail fromBrooks Circle to 200 feet North, Cityof Prior Lake, Minnesota.

The area proposed to be assessedis every lot, piece, and parcel ben-efiting from said improvements,whether abutting or not, within thefollowing described areas: Portionsof the North half of Section 1, Town-ship 114 North, Range 22 West, ScottCounty, Minnesota. Specific prop-erty descriptions included in theabove described area, but not inclu-sive, are as follows:

sessment roll is $344,907.00.The Council proposes to pro-

ceed under the authority grantedby Chapter 429 M.S.A.

The proposed assessment roll ison file in the City Manager’s officeand any written or oral objectionswill be considered at the public hear-ing. No appeal may be taken as tothe amount of any assessment un-less a signed, written objection isfiled with the City Manager prior tothe hearing or presented to the pre-siding officer at the hearing. Anappeal to district court may be madeby serving notice upon the Mayoror City Manager within 30 days af-ter adoption of the assessment roll

and filing such notice with districtcourt within 10 days after serviceupon the Mayor or City Manager.The City also has adopted a deferredassessment ordinance whereby theCity Council may defer the paymentof special assessments for those in-dividuals who are permanently dis-abled or have attained the age of 65or older. Guideline criteria andapplications are available at CityHall. Applications must be madewithin 30 days following the adop-tion of the assessment roll by theCity Council.Dated: August 4, 2008

Women’s shelter marks 25th birthdayThe public is invited to

attend a free family day of fun from 1 to 5 p.m. today, Saturday, Aug. 16, at Huber Park in Sha-kopee.

The “Legacy of Hope” cel-ebration is being held to mark Southern Valley Alliance for Battered Women’s 25th year of

providing services to victims of domestic violence in Carver and Scott counties.

The afternoon will be fi lled with infl atable adventures for both kids and adults to enjoy, live entertainment provided by the Swamp Kings and the JNH band, free games, prizes

and treats. A short program will take

place at 3 p.m. followed by the pre-sentation of some giveaways.
