LICENSING CATEGORIES
This service enables the individuals to apply for a new healthcare professional license to practice within Dubai Healthcare City Free Zone.
1. New Professional Licensing (2/5)
LICENSING CRITERIA
ProfessionalQualification
Undergraduate/ postgraduate qualification, specialty board or other, if applicable per category & Specialty
Clinical Work Experience
Will be considered after obtaining qualifications required for the intended field of practice
Professional License
An Applicant must have a valid and current license to practice and/or registration in the intended field of practice.
Certificate of Good Standing (CGS)
A CGS is required from all healthcare professional Applicants
DHCA Licensing Exam
Applicants from specific specialties and countries are required to a pass a DHCR examination.
English Proficiency Exam
An Applicant that is a graduate of a program offered in a language other than English, must provide Evidence of English proficiency examination:- (TOEFL) a minimum score of 550 (paper based) and 78 (internet based) or (IELTS) a minimum score of 6.0 or equivalent.- Must be valid and not exceed 2 years from issuance.- Worked in native English speaking country for at least one (1) year may be exempted from English Proficiency Test.
• Education certificates with transcript of records. Education Certificates may include any of the followings: Diploma, Bachelor’s, Post Graduates Degree etc.
• Recent experience letters.
• Valid License/Registration from licensing body of country of recent employment.
• Valid Good Standing Certificate.
• Valid Passport Copy.
• Recent Photo.
• Offer letter from recruiting facility (If Available).
• Malpractice Insurance from recruiting facility (If Available).

2. Renewal of License (2/4)
• CPD activities will be accepted only if they fall within the immediate preceding two years from DHCA license expiry date
• The majority of the CPD points acquired must relate to the licensee’s primary area of practice
• CPD points earned in BLS course will not be counted under CPD points required for license renewal
• Composition of CPD points can be through; attending seminars, online course, publications, authorships…etc. (refer to renewal guidelines for more details)
• Exemption from CPD Requirements:
– Completion of a higher education program
– Passing a re-certification examination in their licensed specialty in the last two years
– Licensed Trainees appointed at a DHCA– approved training program.
– Faculty members appointed at a DHCA – approved training program in a purely academic capacity

• Allows a Physician to work in DHCC for a short period of time on temporary basis.
• Only applicable to Medical and Dental professionals
• License is issued for (1) One Month at a time for a maximum of (3) Three months per year

• To be qualified from an Option 1 Country
• Meeting the minimum requirements for the license specialty the professional is applying for verified by the Healthcare Operator
• Accompanying Doctor/Dentist assigned by the Healthcare Operator is licensed under the same facility

DHCA Exam Guidelines (1/2)
• Applicants can only register for the exam after the application review process has been completed. The applicant will then be given an Eligibility ID to register for the exam.
• Passing the DHCA Exam does not automatically guarantee a license to practice in DHCC. The license issuance process will be subject to the verification of the candidate’s credentials and submission of all necessary documents
• DHCA Exam Eligibility ID is valid only for 3 months from the date of issue.
• A candidate can have maximum 3 attempts per DHCA exam.
• The result is available immediately once the exam is completed.
