Japanese anime and manga is really popular with young people all over the world right now. In fact, many Japanese learners have said they began to study the language in the first place because they were interested in Japanese cartoons and comics. However, given the sheer range of genres, the variety of different characters and the fact that there are lots of expressions you won’t find in most textbooks and dictionaries, it’s sometimes difficult to understand the kind of Japanese found in anime and manga. This new website was designed especially for such Japanese learners!

Users can study expressions characteristic of 4 genres (romance, school, ninja, samurai) of anime and manga.

Expressions by sceneUsing a manga that depicts a storyline typical of the genre, learners can study single phrases, onomatopoeia and cultural information common in various manga scenes. There is also an onomatopoeia quiz.
Kanji Game
Users can learn using a game focussing on the meaning or reading of kanji often found in a particular genre. There are 2 levels: beginner and upper-intermediate.
For the grand opening, CHARACTER EXPRESSIONS and LOVE WORD QUIZ will be released on 1st February 2010. New contents will be added in stages!
