PRESENTATION TO DR. H. G. ADAMSON (3N HLS80TH BIRTHDAY.
On his 80th birthday, '2S November 1945. a silver rose bowl waspresented to Dr. H. G. Adamson hy thirty of his old Assistants andHouse-surgeons in the Skin Department of St. Bartholomew's Hospital,at a sherry party held at Dr. Heiiry Oorsi's house, 95 Harley Street.Subscriptions had been sent by his old pupils from places as far apartas Australia, South Africa and East Africa, in spite of the difficultiesof the present time some sixteen of the subscribers attended the partyto pay tribute to their old teacher, whom they were glad to see lookinghardly a day older than when he retired from St. Bartholomew's eighteenyears ago. The inscription on the rose bowl was as follows :

THE name of America's most famous dermatologist, who was born ou23 December one. hundred years ago, is eponyniously familiar to themedical profession at large tlirough/'Duhring's disease/' which in aseries of 18 papers published between 1884 and 1891 he rescued from aconfusing host of obscure eruptions as a clinical entity under the name*' dermatitis herpetiformis.^' It is interesting to recall among the allegedvictims of this disease the nanies of Job and Marat.
After studying in Vienna under the great Hebra, Duhriiig began histeaching career, which was to last some forty years, in 1871 as lectureron diseases of the skin at Pennsylvania University.
