Meter Base is located on private property near the street. Customer installs private cable to house from the meter base.
Meter Base Location Options
Meter Base located away from the house. BC Hydro cable MUST be in a 3” duct to the Meter Base.
After the Meter Base the customer MUST use private cable. It can be in a duct or a special type of cable can be directly buried.

Shaw Summary:
The Municipality of The Village of Lions Bay with partnership with others utilities is undertaking a beautification project to remove all existing utilities aerial plant and replace it with the new underground plant.
These include Lions Bay Avenue, Cloudview Place, Seaview Place including Park Marina.
Our assumption is a common trench to supply and install Shaw’s new underground plant.
This portion of work will be done utilizing a common underground trench shared by Hydro, Shaw & TELUS
Mainline Public Infrastructure (off-site, along main Roads)
Sharing underground common trenching cost:
Civil cont.cost of installing Shaw’s U/ground structures:$50 per meter, 1635m =$81,750
Shaw’s cost of supplying all underground materials: $25,000.00
Inspection and engineering cost: $2,500
Total Shaw contribution for public cost: $109,250

Summary of Shaw’s Total Contribution Towards Beautification Project
This portion of work will be done utilizing a common underground trench shared by Hydro, Shaw & TELUS
Service Entrance to each Home (on-site, on subscribers property)
Sharing underground common trenching cost:
Civil contractors cost of installing $11 per meter x 60m = $660 per lot x :60 = $39,600
Shaw’s cost of supplying all underground materials:= $170 x60 $10,200
Inspection and engineering cost: $ 1,500.00
Total Shaw contribution for private portion: $51,300*

Contractor Cost: 1) We expect savings when BC Hydro/TELUS/Shaw conduit is placed by the same contractor at the same time on the same tender.
2) Does not include the cost to punch a pipe under the railway since cost savings are possible when utilities are placed jointly.
3) When the public portion of the job is tendered, an optional separate cost can be requested from the contractor for the private property portion. Due to the efficiencies of scale in doing the 62 lots at the same time as the public portion, we expect the cost to be lower than each homeowner arranging for their
own contractor.
