A Preliminary Review of Plans and Specifications1 Quickly review all Drawings in the Construction Document set, including Architectural,
Structural, Civil, Landscaping, Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Electrical, FoodService, and any other discipline. Spend not more than one minute per sheet, average.
2 Make a list of any apparent discrepancies or questions while reviewing the set, and add‘flags’ to sheets where there are significant questions.
3 Quickly review the Specif ications by reading through the Table of Contents forMechanical and Plumbing work. Check the Table of Contents against the actualSpecification sections to verify all sections have been included. Make a list of questionsthat may come up during the cursory review.
4 Review Architectural T itle Sheet, or first sheet in the set, and make a list of the ProjectSquare Footage, Building Occupancy Type, Building Construction Type, GoverningCodes, Index of Drawings, and any other information that relates to Mechanical orPlumbing work.
5 Check for consistent appearance of Title Blocks, Drawing Scales, North Arrows,Professional Stamps, Company Logos, Sheet Numbers, Sheet Tit les, Issue Dates, andIssue Revisions on all sheets.
B Demolition Plans1 Verify that Demolition Symbols (cross-hatching, etc.) are clear and complete, and are
coordinated with other disciplines.2 Verify there are notes regarding potential hazardous materials (asbestos, lead paint,
etc.), and coordinate with Architect or other Prime Consultant and Owner.

““Plumbing Peer Review” SoftwarePlumbing Peer Review” SoftwareC Plumbing Underground Floor Plan Return to Table of Contents
1 Read all Sheet Notes and verify they are clear and appropriate.2 Verify all References are correct. Follow references to indicated sheets.3 Coordinate Plumbing Underground Plan with Structural Grade Plan. Verify that
below-slab Footings and Grade Beams have been shown on the PlumbingUnderground Floor Plan, for underground pipe coordination. (If Footings and GradeBeams are not on Plumbing Underground Plan, they should be added to the‘background’).
4 Verify that any pipes passing over, under, or through Footings or Grade Beams havebeen coordinated with Structural Plans. Check on provisions for sleeving beams, etc.Verify depth of Footings and Grade Beams below floor slab, to check for anypotential conflicts.
5 Verify that Footings and Grade Beams are not directly below Plumbing Fixtureoutlets, Floor Drains, Floor Sinks, Plumbing Chases, or pipe drops, such as StormDrains and Overflow Drains. Verify coordination with pipes at Columns, such asSanitary Vents and Trap Primer water pipes, to avoid conflicts with Footings atColumns.
6 Check for locations of building expansion joints or seismic joints, and verify that pipeshave been designed to accommodate expansion joints.
7 Follow all Waste Pipe risers up to floors above. Place a pencil check-mark on eachriser as it is verified to continue on the floor above (or roof). Check for coordinatedlocations from floor to floor on each pipe riser.
8 After following each Waste pipe riser to the top, follow horizontally to the most remotefixture or drain connection point. Pencil in Fixture Units (FU) for all Fixtures andDrains served by each Waste riser. Sum the flow rates (FU) from the remote fixturesor drains, back to the risers. Pencil in the accumulated FU on the plans adjacent tothe pipes. Verify that Fixture Units are listed for all fixtures or drains and thatSchedules for each fixture are complete.
9 If the Floor Plan has references to larger scale plans (such as Enlarged Toilet RoomPartial Plans), follow to the referenced Enlarged Plan. Verify all pipe sizes arecoordinated from Floor Plan to Enlarged Partial Plan. Verify the Floor Plan andEnlarged Plan have the same background and are current with the latestArchitectural plans. Pencil in the Fixture Unit value for each Fixture or Drain on theEnlarged Plan, and sum the FU to the extent of the Enlarged Scale Plan. Transferthe total flow rates back to the original Floor Plan, for continuation.
