Weekly Feast
Looking around and seeing so many needs I had to stop and won-
der, “Why doesn’t somebody do something?” Then I realized I was
“somebody.”
Living in a world with many challenges, we can’t solve every-
thing nor individually meet every need, but we can do something. In
life’s varied circumstances and situations many somethings needing to be
done to make life better can begin with us. We must not close our heart
to being the “somebody” God may intend to use in the moment.
James implored in James 2:15-16 (NLT) Suppose you see a
brother or sister who has no food or clothing, 16 and you say, “Good-bye
and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give
that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?
The wishful prayer is both a cop-out and an opt-out. It is actually
void of any real meaning where there is no follow through when ability
and opportunity to do something are there.
John simply pleaded in 1 John 3:17-18 (NLT) If someone has
enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows
no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person? 18 Dear chil-
dren, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth
by our actions.
In other words, do something! When we see with our heart and
not merely with our eyes we will accept being the “somebody” with the
opportunity to act! Though we all cannot do everything we can all do
something. We are all a “somebody” created by God for good works
which He created in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:10) He designed
us to be doers, and in His eyes, one who serves others is most definitely
a “somebody”! (Matthew 23:11) May we remain open to being the
“somebody” who serves to the glory of God.
HAVE A GREAT WEEK BEING SOMEONE SOMEBODY NEEDS!
In Him,
Tom Marcum, II

Do Something
By Matthew West
I woke up this morning
Saw a world full of trouble now
Thought, how’d we ever get so far down
How’s it ever gonna turn around
So I turned my eyes to Heaven
I thought, “God, why don’t You do some-
thing?”
Well, I just couldn’t bear the thought of
People living in poverty
Children sold into slavery
The thought disgusted me
So, I shook my fist at Heaven
Said, “God, why don’t You do something?”
He said, “I did, I created you”
I’m so tired of talking
About how we are God’s hands and feet
But it’s easier to say than to be
Live like angels of apathy who tell ourselves
It’s alright, “somebody else will do some-
thing”
Well, I don’t know about you
But I’m sick and tired of life with no desire
I don’t want a flame, I want a fire
I wanna be the one who stands up and says,
“I’m gonna do something”
We are the salt of the earth
We are a city on a hill
But we’re never gonna change the world
By standing still
No we won’t stand still
No we won’t stand still
No we won’t stand still
If not us, then who
If not me and you
Right now, it’s time for us to do something
If not now, then when
Will we see an end
To all this pain
It’s not enough to do nothing
It’s time for us to do something!
