How to Play
Blackjack
Blackjack Variations Blackjack is a very popular and famous game that is
played in casinos all over the globe
You may have played some variations of blackjack with family and friends outside of a casino setting
It may have been called another name, such as 21,
Vinge-et-un or Pontoon, but these all have the same basic rules
Essentially, the aim of the game is to get as close as
possible to 21 without exceeding 21 and going ‘Bust’
The Basic Game Rules To start the game off, each player is dealt two cards.
The value of the cards are added up and the player can then decide upon what action to take next
Any picture card, such as a King, is counted as 10. An Ace can be either 1 or 11, so the player can decide what the best option is for their hand
If a player is dealt an Ace and a Picture card or a 10 value card, they have the perfect hand
At this point, they would probably choose to ‘Stand’
with the cards that they have
The Basic Game Rules Players with a score of 17 or more may also decide to
Stand rather than risk exceeding a score of 21 and going ‘Bust’
For those with a score of less than 17, the usual choice is to take a ‘Hit’. A Hit simply means you are dealt another card. If you have a low value hand, you may decide to Hit more than once
When all the players has made their decisions, they will reveal their cards
The winner is the player with the hand that is closest to 21. If two players have a hand that adds up to 21, the one with an Ace and 10 value card would win
How to Play Blackjack Blackjack is the casino version of this game.
Therefore, bets are made on each round
Instead of playing other people, you are playing against the dealer. There are also a couple of additional options available in the game;
Splitting: If a player has two identical cards in their hand, for example two eights, they can choose to Split the hand, giving them double the chance to achieve 21
Doubling Down: This option involves doubling your wager and receiving one more card. After this, no further action can be taken
The dealer does not have the option to Split or Double Down
How to Play Blackjack Blackjack starts by the initial two cards being dealt
face down to each player, except the dealer who receives one card face up. The other players can see it and use this to inform their decisions
Once all the players have made their choices, the
dealer receives will draw to 17 Once the dealer has finished, the game is over and
either the player or the dealer wins
How to Play Blackjack If the dealer goes bust, all players still in the game win
back their initial bet
If the dealer remains in the game and a player has a higher score than the dealer, the player wins
If the dealer has a higher final score, the player loses
A ‘Push’ is when the dealer and player have the same score and the original bet is returned
If both the player and the dealer have a score of 21, the one with a Blackjack (Ace and a value 10 card) will win. If both have a Blackjack, it is a ‘Push’
