Don’t Forget to Change Your Clocks BackThis Weekend

From the desk of Father Lucio and Father Alan,
Dear Parishioners, We had an amazing Retreat and Workshop with Chris Bray, a Catholic evangelist and 20 leaders from our four parishes, Saturday, October 28. As a result we have created our own Mission Statement for our CATHOLIC FAMILY OF PARISHES IN NORFOLK. This Mission Statement will guide all of us as we pray, work and grow together as one community of faith in four beautiful parishes. Here is our focus for the next several years: “We are a Eucharistic community forming faith-filled disciples of Jesus in loving service of God and neighbour for salvation” This Sunday, November 5, at our four parishes we will be remembering our loved ones, who have died during the past year. Please check with the person at the front doors of the church to be sure the name of your loved one is on the list. When we announce their name please come forward to receive a candle in their memory. Lest we forget! As families plan for the Christmas Celebrations with our Parishes and Families, we are announcing the times of the Christmas Masses, with no changes this year. Christmas Eve at St. Cecilia’s 6:00 pm; St. Bernard’s 7:00 pm; St. Mary’s 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm and Our Lady. Queen of Martyrs 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm Christmas Day at St. Cecilia’s 9:00 am; St. Bernard’s 9:00 am; St. Mary’s 11:00 am and Our Lady. Queen of Martyrs 11:00 am. Please mark the following in your calendars as we plan for 2018. There will be a meeting of any Choir/Music Ministry Leaders, Cantors, organist, pianists, guitarists, in other words all those leading in some way. The choir members do not need to attend but are welcome. The meeting will be Tuesday, January 16, following the 7:00 pm Mass at Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs Church. Meeting at 7:30 pm. We cancelled the 7:00 pm mass at St. Mary’s so all that need to can attend this important meeting. We have booked two Liturgy Meetings at the same time, to look back at our Christmas Celebrations and plan for Lent, Holy Week, Easter etc. Both Meetings are Tuesday, January 23 at 7:30 pm, following the 7:00 pm Mass. One Meeting at St. Mary’s Upper Parish Hall and one meeting at Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs Parish Hall. We have booked Father Mickey Prieur for our next PARISH MISSION on the weekend of February 3 and 4 with three evening presentations, February 4, 5 and 6; Sunday Monday and Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm. Location to be announced. The topic is “The Joy of Love and Family”. Please mark your calendars NOW and plan to attend. Blessings from Fathers Lucio and Alan.
WORLD MISSION SUNDAY is usually October 22, since that is too close to Thanksgiving, we have moved it to November 11and 12. You will see the yellow envelope attached to this bulletin. Please make cheques out to your Parish and the donations will be sent to the Missions via the Diocese of London. There will be NO second collection on November 11/12, please put the envelope with the usual Sunday Offering. Please donate to the World Missions according to your situation! Thank You!

From Deacon Gerard In this month of Thanksgiving, and with the World Day of the Poor coming on November 19th, I wanted to take an opportunity to thank the parishioners of our family of parishes for their generosity in the assistance to the poor of our area. Your contributions enable me to carry out my ministry of Charity and Presence and our St. Vincent de Paul council of Delhi, Waterford and Simcoe to carry out our outreach mission to the less fortunate in our area. The soup kitchen, last year, served 4168 meals in 79 days of operation. Not only does this action allow these folks to stretch their dollars to meet the increasing cost of utilities, rent and food during the harsh months, but also provides a safe place for conversation, fellowship and community. A place different from their four walls at home. Last year we averaged 53 meals served per day. This year we opened the doors at the Knights of Colum-bus hall on Oct. 12 and had 45 people come for lunch. The next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we served 53, 59 and 72 meals respectively. That is an average of 57.25 per day. This is not a downward trend! May God bless you in your continued support of those in need in our area. Rejoice in the Lord, Deacon Gerard
Strong and empowered women: lasting and inclusive peace! Did you know that a peace agreement is 35% more likely to last at least 15 years if women help build it? By adopting effective community-based and non-violent approaches and by forming networks that cross political, religious and ethnic boundaries, women transform peace and reconciliation processes. This fall, join the Development and Peace—Caritas Canada campaign to learn more about the role of women in violence prevention and peacebuilding. For more information, visit devp.org/campaign.

Join Frankie and the Fairlanes for a celebration of music and laughter guaranteed to transport you to that wonderful Christmas of yesteryear when the family gathered to hear the original holiday favourites. In those days the true meaning of Christmas was front and center and Frankie and the Fairlanes will deliver the most touching songs of Christmas such as, " O'Come All Ye Faithful" and "Silent Night" with the same reverence that Elv-is did on his 1957 Christmas with Elvis album.

Every year the Salvation Army is involved in supporting our struggling community members at Christmas time. This support takes the form of providing food, shelter, furniture, clothing, household items, toys for children, and a host of other services. These services could not be provided if it were not for the generosity of individuals and community partners.
The Salvation Army will soon be launching its 2017 Christmas Campaign. The campaign includes fundraising through the Kettle’s in malls and various store locations.
We need individuals/groups willing to donate time, energy, and a presence at various kettle locations across Norfolk County.
Please help us in Giving Hope Today to those in need. Phone: 519-426-3640

It is with a great deal of humility and gratitude that we have been able to return to some semblance of routine in our lives. The hospital and it's routine seem a distant memory but certainly are still provoking thoughts. We wanted to take an opportunity to say a BIG thank you for your prayers, care, concern, flowers, food stuffs and visits. The prayers were palpable and knowing we were supported by our
community meant a lot to both Sandra and I and of course our families.
Thank you again for living the Gospel message of love.
In gratitude, Sandra and Dave Callaghan
