SPP is a calendar year program. We add or remove members at the beginning of the yearand provide benefits for the entire year.
Members can qualify anytime throughout theyear. The Enhanced Service benefits are availablein the month after qualification for the remainderof the year. For example, if an advisor qualifiesin June, 2011, we provide the Enhanced Servicebenefits until December 31, 201 1. From
January 1, 2012 until December 31, 2012 full program benefits will be available. We conductan audit at the end of 2011 to ensure membersmaintain qualification levels.
We cannot credit production from one year toward benefits for the next year. Qualificationis based on the final first year commissions(FYC) number for the year. Year-end appeals are only considered in unusual circumstances.
Benefit period
Strategic Partner Program benefits are availableto all advisors who do business with Sun Life Financial.
We require Managing General Agency (MGA)principals, National Accounts firms and anyInter-corporate firms to provide approval for the
advisors or specialists in their firm to participatein the program.
We calculate business on an individual basisonly. We will review split cases and combinedbusiness situations on a case-by-case basis.

PRACTICE DEVELOPMENT SUMMITS
This is a key benefit of the Strategic Partner Program.
Strategic Partners will automatically receive an invitation to participate in this unique, high-calibreevent. The three-day, two-night meeting at an intimate resort venue includes advisor presentations,industry experts and open discussions on relevant practice development topics.
In addition to the formal sessions, the agenda provides valuable networking opportunities in a socialsetting. The objective is to provide great ideas in a relaxed atmosphere to help Strategic Partnersgrow their business.
Attendees at the Summit are Sun Life Financial guests and are expected to attend the full event. Allcosts are covered by the Strategic Partner Program. Sun Life Financial meeting planners co-ordinateregistration and assist in making travel arrangements.
The 2011 locations and dates will be announced early in the year.
MARKETING ASSOCIATE SUPPORT PROGRAM
The Marketing Associate (MA) plays a key role in the success of most Strategic Partners. Our Marketing Associate support program focuses on networking, sharing ideas and experiences, andbuilding on current skills and knowledge to help MAs become even more effective. This benefit can be used to help partners pay for printed relationship brochures that let people know who they are and what their areasof expertise are. We’ll provide a mock-up of thebrochure and consult on the content, or simplyreimburse you if you choose to work with anexternal design firm.
This benefit can also be used to help build awebsite that promotes your business. Sun LifeFinancial provides consultative services to createthe website.
We’ve designed a website template you can use if desired. We provide the structure andguidance in the custom-build, and we’ll helppromote it to your key contacts.

At Sun Life Financial, we’ve developed insurance products and concepts that help solve the financial needs of clients in the affluentand business markets. That’s why our StrategicPartners have access to Sun Life Financial’s Directors of advanced planning (DAP).
DAPs provide priority service and ongoing support on all aspects of the insurance solutionbeing considered. From answering technicalquestions and providing opportunity analysis, to case development and consultation, ourknowledgeable experts are ready to help.
Strategic Partners receive the contact informationfor the DAP in their region when they qualifyfor this program.

Enhanced service
A dedicatedteam
Direct access to senior underwriters –For direct advice and consultation on non-routine questions, Strategic Partners receive the phone numbers for their underwriting andissue team.
Special underwriting unit case manager –This role provides dedicated case managementfor new business submitted by our StrategicPartners. The case manager works closely withthe dedicated underwriters to provide priorityservice and help move the applications throughthe process quickly.
Customer relations direct support –A Customer Relations Consultant is assigned toeach Strategic Partner to provide assistance within-force business. The consultant assists whenhelp is needed with a problem that isn’t beingresolved through normal service channels, orprovide direction on where to go for assistance.
Priority application processing – All applicationsreceived from Strategic Partners are immediatelyflagged for front-of-the-line service throughoutthe entire new business process.
APS incentive – The faster we receive an attending physician statement (APS) from a doctor, the faster we can issue a policy and pay compensation to the advisor. To try tospeed up the process, we’ll reward physicianswhen they return an APS to Sun Life Financialwithin five business days. The incentive is offered in these two instances:
n life insurance cases with yearly premiumsof $20,000 or more
n critical illness insurance cases with faceamounts of $500,000 or more
Executive underwriting account – Up to $1,000 is available through this account, allowing faster access to specialized testingwhere an underwriting decision would havebeen postponed until more expensive testswere completed. The underwriter and case manager arrange for the testing to be completed at the client’s convenience, in theirown community. That means less hassle forclients, no cost for Strategic Partners and the required evidence is collected quickly. See page 1 1 for more information.

Waiving inspection reports – Inspection reportsare usually ordered for face amounts over $2.5 million. We’ll waive the inspection reportfor policies with face amounts of up to $5 million,when a Strategic Partner submits a case and aDAP is involved and writes the cover letter.
The DAP letter should include all of the following information:
n Details of the sale – relationship of advisorto client, others involved in the sale (accountants, lawyers, Sun Life FinancialRegional Specialists, etc.)
n Purpose of the insurance – need for the coverage, sales concepts used, etc.
n Coverage amount – how the amount applied for was determined
n Client background – employer, employmentrecord, professional designations, hobbies, interests, etc.
n Financial statements – if business insurancewith a face amount exceeding $2,500,000
Initiate your own APS – Strategic Partnersmay order the APS themselves. We’ll providethe guidelines to enable you to start the processearlier so your business is issued up to severaldays sooner. See page 12 for the guidelines.
Direct fax of the application – StrategicPartners can fax their new business applicationsto head office and send the originals throughthe usual channel. The entry and underwritingprocess starts earlier and the business is issued days sooner. This process requires the approval of the distribution company.Advisors should indicate on the application or send an accompanying memo noting that the application was faxed. The direct fax numberis 1-866-693-0324.
Proactive dedicated communication –In addition to a written decision on each case,your underwriter will call you directly to discussnon-standard decisions on cases where we’renot able to issue the policy as applied for. Thisprovides rationale for you to assist in positioningthe discussion with your client.
Policy wallet program – To allow improvedpresentation to clients, we've expanded thethreshold for including a policy wallet. We'veextended the current level of a minimum premium of $5,000 to include all policies with a face amount of $1 million. We provide leatherportfolios for policies with $50,000 of premium,rather than the current threshold of $100,000.

ANNUAL RECOGNITION
Each year when advisors qualify as Strategic Partners, they’ll receive a certificate of achievement for this accomplishment. In addition, local field management delivers an advisor kit with contactand program information.
DOUBLE QUALIFIER REWARD
Advisors who earned double the FYC qualification requirement in 2010 have an opportunity toenjoy these additional benefits in 2011:
n up to $2,500 for marketing activities like local advertising, client appreciation events andother business-building initiatives, and
n higher subsidy amounts for professional development work they undertake with TheCovenant Group.
CONSISTENT QUALIFIER REWARD
In appreciation of your continual business, advisors who qualify for the Strategic Partner Program for three consecutive calendar years will receive the Consistent qualifier reward with these additional benefits:
n up to $2,500 for marketing activities like local advertising, client appreciation events andother business-building initiatives, and
n higher subsidy amounts for professional development work they undertake with TheCovenant Group.

As a Sun Life Financial Strategic Partner, you have earned access to a unique and valuable benefit – the Executive underwriting account (EUA).
HERE’S HOW IT WORKSn Each year, we credit your EUA with $1,000 for special medical expenses.
n Based on our routine evidence, if we must postpone an underwriting decision until more specialized tests are completed, you and your underwriter can discuss if this test can bearranged through your EUA.
n If the test is eligible for EUA coverage, your underwriter and case coordinator will attempt to arrange the testing in the client’s community and at his or her convenience. In most cases,this will be facilitated through special arrangements with a paramedical company. To ensurethe process goes smoothly, you may need to help coordinate between the client and theparamedical company.
n The test results are forwarded directly to your underwriter, who will promptly provide youwith our decision.
THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS APPLY:n The policy must have an annual premium of $10,000 or more to qualify for this benefit.
n Cases previously submitted to other carriers and rated, postponed or declined are not eligible.
n The Executive underwriting account has no cash redemption value. We allot an amount to your account at the beginning of each year, and that year’s allotment expires at the end of the calendar year. You cannot carry over an unused amount to the next year.
n Only non-invasive medical tests that carry no health risk to the patient qualify for this program. The underwriter makes the final decision as to whether the test is appropriate for this program.
nWhile we try to have tests completed as soon as possible and at a location convenient for the client, arrangements are determined by the availability of medical facilities in the client’s community.
nWe do not provide test results to other carriers, unless we receive full reimbursement for testcosts from the company in advance.
nWe will be pleased to forward a copy of our test results to the client’s personal physician toassist in managing the patient’s care. However, the test results will include a notice that theycan't release them to any third parties without our prior consent.
