Measurement Function Sets andSubsets
These counters are divided into three levels:
Level 1 is the function set. A function set consists of multiple function subsetsrelated to a specific system function. Function sets are also called measurementsets.
Level 2 is the function subset. A function subset consists of measurementcounters related to a certain system function. Function subsets are also calledmeasurement units.
Level 3 is the measurement counter.
Measurement objects and measurement counters are closely related. One object typecan map multiple function sets. One function set can map multiple object types. Onefunction set can contain multiple function subsets. One function subset, however, belongs to only one function set and one object type.

Performance MeasurementCounter
System counter
Common counter
Extended counter
Custom counter
Common counter
Common counters refer to the key counters defined by NEs. The NEs periodically reportthe measurement results of all the counters to the M2000. The M2000 saves themeasurement results to the performance database if the counters are selected. You canquery the measurement results stored in the performance database.
Extended counter
Extended counters are also defined by NEs. The NEs report the results of the selectedextended counters to the M2000. The M2000 determines whether to save the results ofthe selected extended counters in the performance database of the M2000 performancedatabase according to your requirements.
Custom counter
Custom counters refer to the counters defined on the M2000 client. The system definescustom counters by adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing the system defaultcounters (both common counters and extended counters). By using the existing customcounters, you can create more custom counters.

Performance MeasurementObjects
Object
Measurement objects refer to the objects that are measured. A
measurement object can be a physical entity such as a board
or a subrack, or a logical entity such as a cell or a neighbor cell.
WiMAX NEs are type 1 object
Certain mapping relations exist between measurement objects and measurementcounters. Each measurement object maps one or more measurement counters, that is,the measured object has specific measurement items. Measurement counters, however, depend on measurement objects.

Object Type
Object type 1: You need not specify measurement objects.
The system measures this type of objects by default.
Object type 2: You need to specify measurement objects.
After this type of measurement objects are manually added
to an NE, the NE notifies the M2000 of the addition.
Object type 3: You need to enter the specific characteristics
of an object. The measurement is based on the entered
characteristics.
Examples
Type 1: DBS3900 WiMAX
Type 2: CDMA BSC6680
Type 3: CPE

Performance MeasurementPeriods
Period
A measurement period refers to the interval for NEs to report
performance measurement results. It define how to measure.
The measurement periods vary according to the measurement
objects.
The following measurement periods are available for WiMAX :
WASN9770: 5 minutes (optional), 30 minutes
DBS3900: 30 minutes
A measurement period refers to the interval for NEs to report performance measurementresults. NEs report measurement results to the M2000 periodically. The M2000 analyzesthe results and then saves the results to the database for future queries. Themeasurement periods vary according to the measurement objects. The following
measurement periods of WiMAX Nes are available: 5minutes, 30 minutes. Not all the counters support the 5 minutes period.

Performance Counter Thresholds
The performance threshold is used to monitor the actual
measurement result of the performance counter. When the
value of the measurement result exceeds that set by the
user, the system generates an alarm.
The threshold value of the performance counter can be the
threshold value of a specific performance counter or the
threshold value of the combined performance counters.

Setting Simple Counter Threshold
Simple threshold is a threshold defined for a single counter.
According to the four alarm levels, you can set four levels of simple thresholds for onecounter.
If the triggered alarm is not cleared, the same alarm will not be generated again for thesame counter . When the system generates an higher level alarm, the lower level alarmwill be cleared automatically.
On the M2000, the number of simple thresholds and combined thresholds that can becreated is limited. The sum of simple thresholds and combined thresholds must be equalto or smaller than 30.
Step 1 Choose Performance > Threshold Management ,
Step 2 Select a node on the navigation tree.
Step 3 Click Add . The Add Threshold dialog box is displayed.Step 4 Modify the threshold parameters.
Step 5 Click OK.
