• All other personnel must stand clear
Check the vehicle
• Check hoist instructions
• Remove heavy or lose objects from boot or utility tray
• Close all vehicle doors
• Drive vehicle into lift area
Check weight
• Check Safe Working Load (SWL) of lift against Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM)
• GVM can usually be found in the vehicle manual
• Ensure each axle weight does not exceed half lift capacity.
Position vehicle
• Swing arms under vehicle
• Position pads in correct place
Correct position of lift pads
Lift pads must be
positioned under
a strong point on
the vehicle body,
eg. where metal is thickest or where elements join.
This is the wrong position!Lift pad has been positioned under door frame…
Damage!
…caused by incorrect positioning of lift pad.
Start the lift
• Operation requires use of two hands
• This is a safety feature, to keep the operator away from the hoist area while lifting is occurring
Hoist operation
On/off switch
Lever
Both must be operated together
Hoist operation
Operate lift to raise pads to within a few millimetres of vehicle lift point
Check and re-adjust lift pad position if necessary
Lift operation-cable lift
The cable lift operates in ‘spurts’.
A locking mechanism minimises the distance the load will fall if cables fail.
All final checks done…raise the vehicle
When final lock is in place….
Work can start on the vehicle.
