NOW'S THE TIME TO PREPAREYULE PHOTO-GREETING CARDS

2. Move in close, so that yoursubject fills the view-finder.

3.* Watch the background.Keep it simple and uncluttered.A few simple Christinas propsare sufficient.

4. Keep your camera level.5. Hold your camera steady

and gently squeeze the shutterrelease.

A good place to shoot a fam-ily portrait is in the livingroom or family room, althoughthe September - October sun-shine makes an outdoor shotequally possible. Inside or, out.Mother can perhaps be seatedin a chair next to Father, withthe children around them. Thearrangement doesn't have tobe symmetrical in fact, itshouldn't be. The posing shouldlook natural, however.

Keep the faces as close to-gether as possible, but not allin the same plane. This willenable you to get close and fillthe frame, and giving eachface its own "level" will keepthe picture from looking like astandard group photo. A goodrule is that if there is enoughspace between two adjacentheads to fit a third head, theyare too far apart.

Or, for a holiday mood, try ashot of the children makingChristmas decorations, hang-ing .up stockings, or icinncookies, or anything else yourimagination comes up with.

As with the family portrait, shoot several different poses,or even several different ideas, and choose the best for yourgreeting cards.

As soon as you've decidedwhich photograph will makethe best greeting card, take thenegative, slide, or snapshot toyour local film processor andorder your cards from themany styles available. It's aseasy as taking and orderingregular prints, but i,t has to bedone soon.

Even today isn't too soon.Merry Christmas!

XKW YORK (KIM Withsummer barely over, Christmasseems a long way otr, but thereis one detail of preparation forthe coming holiday season thatyou can do early planningand ordering your photo-greet-ing cards.

First, look through your col-lected pictures. Vacation pic-tures, for example, make won-derful cards. Photographs ofyour family with scenic back-grounds, oi' action pictures ofyour family at play (|x.>rhapson the family sailboat) makepersonal greeting cards thatare very attractive. A photo-graph of scenery for ex-ample, a snow-covered farm ormountain is scenic and sea-sonal.

A shot of your home, es-pecially one taken last winter, will convey a "from our houseto your house" message ofgreeting. A photo-greetingcard, in any one of a varietyof designs, can be made from asnapshot, negative or slide.

The advantage of planningnow, however, is that vou havetime to take a picture speciallyfor greeting purposes. This canbe a photo of your whole fam-ily or of just the children.

In taking your special photo-graph, Kodak experts suggest

these basic rules for good snap-shooting, which are good theyear around:

1. Make sure your cameralens is clean. If necessary, clean it with photographic lenscleaning paper or a soft, lint-less cloth.

Care of Scalp and HairThe beauty of their, both

male and female, depends to alarge extent on one's generalhealth. Any condition thatpollutes the bloodstream andlowers its nutritional capabli-lites shows up in the hair.People suffering form poorcirculation or anemia, for in-stance, generally have weakor lusterless hair.

tented mind make a strongcontribution to the health andgood looks of the hair.

But a lot depends on howyou take care of it. At least afew minutes each day shouldbe devoted to massaging thescalp. Plant the thumbsbehind the ears, spreading thefingers firmly over the frontof the head. Then rotate the

scalp with a twist of the wrist.Move the fingers around untilevery area of the scalp hasbeen stimulated in this way.Scalp looseness and elasticityare essential for maintaininggood circulation around thehair roots.

Shampooing should be re-

peated as often as necessaryto keep the hair looking cleanand glossy. In polluted urbanareas, it's needed much morefrequently than in the coun-try. Oily hair needs washingmore often than dry hair, toremove the excess, and a

shampoo for dry hair shouldleave a bit of extra oil behind.A European firm whose hairproducts are designed specifi-cally to improve the health ofhair, both male and female, isthe Pantene Company.

Its products have now

become available throughoutthe United States. There areshampoos formulatedespecially for men and

women with dry and oily hairproblems, a woman's hair-setting lotion called Holdingde Pantene that leaves nosticky residue behind, a man'shair tonic called Pantene HairGroom that's greaseless andholds really well and an extra-special assortment of versatilePantene Hair Groom sprays. The spray for men isunscented.

Beautiful, well tended hairmakes a woman feel morefeminine and a man moremasculine. In fact, hairgrooming's a good way toseparate the men from theboys. It's tops!
