NJCU has been a vital part of the Jersey City Community for more than 80 years. We are proud of our academic programs and the many opportunities we offer our students for a world class education in the art, sciences, and humanities.

In addition to the campus experience, NJCU students are uniquely positioned to take advantage of the cultural resources in Jersey City and New York City. Our faculty has established connections to professionals in the music, dance and theatre industries which help our students experience the cultural life of the metropolitan area and pursue their careers.
I have no doubt that you will be impressed with the talent that exists within our Department of Music, Dance and Theatre among our students and our faculty.

The Department of Music, Dance and Theatre is unique among New Jersey’s public universities, offering students access to three performance disciplines – music, dance and theatre – within one department. NJCU’s location in the New York metropolitan area enables students to experience the finest in cultural events and to learn their craft from working artists in their fields. These resources enrich the educational experience for students enrolled in music, dance, and theatre courses.
The Department’s music programs are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) and the Middle States Association. Qualified undergraduate students are able to major in two music major disciplines simultaneously. Music, Dance and Theatre Department scholarships and assistantships are offered based on academic and performance excellence.
