Be sure to teach the patient the following about this medicationEncourage the patient to participate in a smoking cessation program. Apply patch at same time each day to clean, dry skin. Wash hands with plain water after administration as soap increases absorption. Do not trim or cut patch. Dispose of used patch by folding adhesive sides together and replace in foil pouch.
