New Orleans Film Society and the New Orleans Museum of Art
co-present an outdoor screening of
WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY
WHAT: The New Orleans Film Society (NOFS) and the New Orleans Museum of Art
(NOMA) will co-present an outdoor screening of the classic film, Willy Wonka and the
Chocolate Factory, in NOMA’s Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden. This special
screening will be presented in CANDYVISION, an interactive viewing format where you can
purchase small bags of film-specific candy (including a Wonka Scrumdiddlyumptious candy bar,
blueberry Bubbalicious, gold coin, etc.) to be eaten at specific moments during the film. For
example, we'll all chew blueberry bubble gum during Violet's bubble gum scene. Never before
has New Orleans seen Willy Wonka in CANDYVISION!
About the film: This 1971 musical film was adapted from the Roald Dahl novel Charlie and the
Chocolate Factory. Starring Gene Wilder in the title role, the film tells the story of Charlie
Bucket as he receives a golden ticket and visits Willy Wonka's chocolate factory with four other
children from around the world. The film became something of a cult film due to its repeated
television airings and home video sales and received an Academy Award nomination in 1972 for
Best Original Score.
