What is a Nazi? National Socialist German Worker’s Party(Nazi for short)German worker’s party who rose to power in
1921Hitler used the party to try and take over the
government in 1923 but was captured and sentenced to prison. This is where he wrote Mein Kampf
Rise of the Nazis When Hitler got out he organized the party to over
800,000 members and took over the Reischstag (German Parliament) as Chancellor
Hitler soon gained control over the country and passed the Enabling Act.
This act allowed Hitler to do whatever he wanted for 4 years regardless of the Constitution.-(Kind of disbanded Reischstag)
This began his reign of terror Created the Schutzstaffeln (SS) which was a
fierce police force that enforced Hitler’s laws of hate. (Formerly Storm Troopers)
This group was controlled by Hitler’s personal body guard Heinrich Himmler. Very brutal tactics to get things done.
Hitler enacted Nuremberg Laws which forbade Jews from citizenship and marriage and forced them to wear identification.
Hitler’s Master Plan The Final Solution- name given to Hitler’s
plan to rid Europe of all Jewish people He carried out this plan by: 1. Determining who was Jewish. (Census) 2. Rounding the Jews up for deportation
(Einstein) 3. Collecting the Jews in prisons & camps 4. Eradicating the Jews (killing them!)
3rd Reich Hitler believed that Germany had been
through two great stages (reichs) so he was determined that his reign would be the 3rd one and his legacy would last 1000 years.
